Scientific Essay from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 7.0, London School of Marketing (-), course: Corporate Management in Action , language: English, abstract: The world we live in today is characterised by being smaller than it was before. This assumption comes from the idea that the time for people to travel between continents has been significantly reduced, as well as technology has sped up the process to get information and communication is no longer a barrier. Big organisations have strategically followed globalisation steps and their businesses are now global, i.e., consumers can have the best items from all different countries available in their local markets.

This important collection reprints the most significant papers and case studies on the prevention and resolution of conflict over water resources. It focuses in particular on the human dynamics that are involved when conflicts over water resources impact on different interest groups, economic sectors and legal or political boundaries. It addresses key issues which arise at both the local and the international level, including amongst others: How do people interact in these situations of conflict? What methods do they use to find a compromise? What institutions do they create - either jointly or unilaterally - to help overcome problems in the future? This interdisciplinary collection will be essential reading for professional water practitioners throughout the world, including engineers, economists, geographers, geologists, and political scientists concerned with water disputes and conflict resolution. It will make a significant contribution to the study of water as an essential theme in the increasingly important topic of environmental security.

Water Politics And Money written by Manuel Schiffler and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-05-11 with Business & Economics categories.

This book reveals all that can potentially happen when a private company takes over a local water supply system, both the good and the bad. Backed by real life stories of water privatization in action, author Manuel Schiffler presents a nuanced picture free of spin or fear mongering. Inside, readers will find a detailed analysis of the multiple forms of water privatization, from the outright sale of companies to various forms of public-private partnerships. After covering their respective strengths and weaknesses, it then compares them to purely publicly managed water utilities. The book examines the privatization and the public management of water and sewer utilities in twelve countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Philippines, Cambodia, Egypt, Jordan, Uganda, Bolivia, Argentina and Cuba. Readers will come to understand how and why some utilities failed while others succeeded, including some that substantially increased access, became more efficient and improved service quality even in the poorest countries of the world. It is natural that a private company taking over a local water supply system causes both fear and worry for consumers. With the aid of solid empirical evidence, this book argues that who manages the system is only half the story. Rather, it is the corporate culture of the utilities and the political culture of where they operate that more often than not determines performance and how well a community is served.

With 449 factories in 83 countries with 278,000 employees, which is an indicator for an unusual decentralization, Nestlé is the largest food and beverage company in the world and the industry combine with the highest revenue in Switzerland and one of the 50 leading companies worldwide concerning revenue and number of employees. As a very global combine 28% of the food revenue comes from emerging countries in Latin America and Asia, 40% from Europe and 26% from the USA and Canada. Not only the size but also the globalization makes Nestlé be different than all other competitors. Owning six main brands and about 8,500 national and regional brands it gets 70% of the revenue by selling brands that rank on the first or second place in each product segment. Essay from the year 2014 in the subject Business economics - Business Ethics, Corporate Ethics, grade: 3, University of Wuppertal (Schumpeter school of business), course: CSR, language: English, abstract: Stakeholder Management with long-term sustainability is decisive in determining whether a business organization is being successful or not. Stakeholder Management has a direct impact on the company's competitiveness and its environment. The most profitable companies have strong relationships with their relevant stakeholders groups, that is, the stakeholders in their business field. Stakeholder Management has a wide actively and effectively challenge to manage these important relationships with their different stakeholders groups. Strong customer relationships, successful relationships with suppliers, committed employees and good relationships with other stakeholders groups define the winners of today in the world ́s global economy and that is why companies like Nestlé understand, that they should keep an important and a great relationship with their stakeholders. To be able to achieve a sustainable stakeholder management, organizations first have to define who their key stakeholders are, they have to be able to understand their needs, then secondly, they should define what kind of stakeholder management system applies thereto.

Malnutrition caused by deficiencies of vitamins and minerals - also called hidden hunger - impairs both the intellectual and physical development of a child. Due to the absence of clinical symptoms and assessments, no intervention can be staged. The tragedy is that this, in turn, decreases the child’s chance to escape from poverty. This book looks at malnutrition in high-income countries, the nutrition transition and nutritional deficiencies in low-income countries, consequences of hidden hunger, and interventions to improve nutrition security. Written by leading experts in the field, it clearly stresses that national governments and international organizations must make malnutrition one of their top priorities in order to provide children with optimal conditions for a healthy future.
