This portfolio presents intimate case study narratives, providing an in-depth account of DNP best practices for clinical practice. The book covers important topics such as the development of DNP clinical competencies, performance objectives, utilizing evidence-based practice, a DNP approach to adolescent care, caring for the chronically ill, mental health care, adult health care, and many more. The main purpose of this book is to provide DNP faculty and students with a reliable and detailed guide to use when implementing a format to document care provided. The case narratives presented in this book differ from the traditional case study format: students delineate all aspects of the decision-making process, identify the evidence that supports the decision, discuss the robustness of the evidence, analyze the effectiveness of the clinical decision, and critically reflect on the overall case. This detailed format captures the complexity and details of clinical practice. Key Features: Incorporates descriptive narratives that help readers understand the complex cognitive processes employed during the provision of care Presents information based on actual patient encounters that include the reasons for selecting the case, assessment, care provided, and outcomes Provides evidence for all decisions made in the portfolio, which is "leveled" according to the Oxford Centre for Evidence Based Medicine Concludes each case narrative with the DNP student's own reflection and analysis of how successfully each competency was fulfilled

Navigation By Judgment written by Dan Honig and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-03-29 with Political Science categories.

Foreign aid organizations collectively spend hundreds of billions of dollars annually, with mixed results. Part of the problem in these endeavors lies in their execution. In Navigation by Judgment, Dan Honig argues that high-quality implementation of foreign aid programs often requires contextual information that cannot be seen by those in distant headquarters. Drawing on a novel database of over 14,000 discrete development projects across nine aid agencies and eight paired case studies of development projects, Honig shows that aid agencies will often benefit from giving field agents the authority to use their own judgments to guide aid delivery. This "navigation by judgment" is particularly valuable when environments are unpredictable and when accomplishing an aid program's goals is hard to accurately measure. Highlighting a crucial obstacle for effective global aid, Navigation by Judgment shows that the management of aid projects matters for aid effectiveness.

Living and Dying in the Contemporary World is not just another reader in medical anthropology but a true tour de force—a deep exploration of all that makes life unbearable and yet livable through the labor of ordinary people. This book comprises forty-four chapters by scholars whose ethnographic and historical work is conducted around the globe, including South Asia, East Asia, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the United States. Bringing together the work of established scholars with the vibrant voices of younger scholars, Living and Dying in the Contemporary World will appeal to anthropologists, sociologists, health scientists, scholars of religion, and all who are curious about how to relate to the rapidly changing institutions and experiences in an ever more connected world.

Cognitive Aspects Of Stimulus Control written by W. K. Honig and has been published by Psychology Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-24 with Nature categories.

The study of discrimination and generalization in animals traditionally involves stimuli that are simple, uniform, and restricted in time or space. In recent years, the area of stimulus control has been expanded with the use of stimuli that are complex, extended in time or space, and incorporate or represent natural objects, events, or locations. The contributors to this unique volume have emphasized controlling functions of complex stimulus events -- such as location or duration -- and their relation to cognitive processes in animals. The chapters cover a wide array of topics, including spatial cognition, categorization, pattern perception, numerosity discriminations, imagery, and spatial tracking, thereby addressing the question of how complex events are perceived, processed, and organized. This volume goes beyond other recent books on animal cognition in that it specifically places some well-known phenomena within the context of stimulus control.

This is the story of the workers of Tianjin (Tientsin) and how, in the first half of the 20th century, they helped shape Tianjin's identity as the major industrial centre of North China. This text should be of interest to students of the period covered, and also to those students of Communist China who wish to understand the antecedents of China's current urban society and trace the roots of powerful continuities. The book offers a wealth of detail on material life, forms of entertainment, local festivals and individual rites of passage and makes use of studies of the local economy carried out by contemporaries and in the People's Republic. The Workers of Tianjin is a contribution to both Chinese labour history and urban history.
