If The Organs Could Speak written by Olaf Koob and has been published by Temple Lodge Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-05-29 with Religion categories.

At a time of increasing volatility in healthcare provision, we are all having to become more responsible for our own well-being. This book – an imaginative, practical and accessible guide to our inner organs – is written for anyone who wants to improve their health and develop resiliency against illness. Although trained as a medical doctor, Olaf Koob has the vision and experience of a holistic physician. He has surveyed diverse medical systems – orthodox medicine, naturopathy, homeopathy, Chinese, ayurvedic and anthroposophic medicine – and found their common substance. Using this knowledge, he relates the essence of each human organ: its position, colour, form, embryonic development, function and characteristic attributes. Thus, the organs begin to tell their own stories, revealing their ‘biography’, physiognomy and the illnesses they are prone to.

The Sick System written by Bernhard Stein and has been published by tredition this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-03-08 with Science categories.

The health system is sick, but still has chances to heal. Its economic alignment has not only led the doctor's profession into a 'business model' on a 'medical market', but it risks leading to an illogical, inhumane and unfair care system - without reaching the initial economic goals. Dr. Bernhard Stein, MD, anesthesiologist and health economics expert, shows the weaknesses of our current health care system and pleads for understanding the crisis as an opportunity for a fundamental reorientation: the transformation of the old-school hospital into a lean, modular and regionally networked unit. With the maxim - a maximum of outpatient care in this network, and synergy instead of competition. This bottom-up approach, changing the philosophy of care and made possible by new technologies, gives a new chance to disfavored and regionally isolated populations. They are the first victims of the current industrial model of "healthcare".

The End Of Medicine As We Know It And Why Your Health Has A Future written by Harald H.H.W. Schmidt and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-05-03 with Medical categories.

Medicine itself is sick. We hardly understand any disease and therefore need to chronically treat symptoms but not the causes. Consequently, drugs and other therapies help only very few patients; yet we are pumping more and more money into our healthcare system without any added value. Thus, the internationally renowned physician researcher, Harald Schmidt, predicts the end of medicine as we know it. On a positive note, digitization will radically change healthcare and lead to one of the greatest socioeconomic revolutions of mankind. He is one of the pioneers of "systems medicine", a complete redefinition of what we actually call a "disease", how we organize medicine and how we use Big Data to heal rather than treat, to prevent rather than cure. In this book the author first proves the deep crisis of medicine, but describes how medicine will become more precise, more uniform, safer and, surprisingly, also more affordable. Making a diagnosis will be taken over by artificial intelligence. Current, mainly organ-based medical specialists, disciplines and hospital departments will disappear. Physicians will become patient coaches working in interdisciplinary teams with pharmacists, physiotherapists, nutritionists, etc. and relieved of their workload. Illnesses, including cancer, will be prevented or cured in a precise manner. We will become 100 years and older. Health care spending will shift from chronic treatment of diseases to prevention and health maintenance, thereby dramatically reducing overall costs. Health will become a common good. But Harald Schmidt also warns that those who are not open to digitization will not benefit from these advances and will be left behind. Anyone who wants to benefit from the revolution of medicine must have a digital twin. Is this futurism? No, each of us can have his or her personal genome sequenced, microbiome analyzed, keep an electronic health record. The future has begun. Schmidt convincingly explains the limitations in the current practice of medicine and the need for big data and a systems approach. Prof. Ferid Murad MD, PhD, Nobel Laureate in Medicine 1998, USA Network Medicine, a new discipline that offers a network-based understanding of the cell and disease, is unavoidable if we wish to translate the advances in genomics into cures. Professor Harald Schmidt, a prominent expert in this space, offers the first coherent treatment of the topic, explaining the potential of a network-based perspective of human disease. Prof. Albert-László Barabási, Northeastern University and Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA Visionary, provocative, and full of insights. Professor Schmidt gives a unique and authoritative perspective to the past, present and future of medical science and clinical practice. And all presented in such an inimitable style. Decentralisation And Regional Development written by Eva Dick and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-06-15 with Political Science categories.

This book analyzes decentralisation, regional development paths and success factors in different governance sectors in Ghana, the Philippines, Tanzania and Chile, and discuss overarching aspects of relevance. Decentralisation, which refers to the delegation of administrative responsibilities, political decision-making and fiscal powers to lower levels of government, is now considered one of the most efficient engines of development. In Sub-Saharan Africa decentralised states have made more progress in reducing poverty than those states with lower decentralisation scores. But in many countries, decentralisation is still considered a ‘work in progress’ with unsatisfactory results. From a spatial point of view, the link between decentralisation and regional and district development is particularly interesting. Both in the North and in the South, regional or district development is seen as holding the potential for advancing social and economic development, and even more so in decentralised political settings. Space-based networks at the regional or district level are considered instrumental for responding to locally specific challenges, e.g. in areas lagging behind economically.

This is a highly accessible and reassuring account of how the pharmaceutical industry is redefining health, making it a state that is almost impossible to achieve. Many normal life processes – states as natural as birth, ageing, sexuality, unhappiness and death – are systematically being reinterpreted as pathological so creating new markets for their treatments. In this enlightening book, Jörg Blech reveals: how the invention of diseases by pharmaceutical companies is turning us all into patients, and how we can protect ourselves against this how the medical profession has been bullied and co-opted into endorsing profitable cures for people who aren't ill fears about how pharmaceutical companies create markets by playing on the general public's concern with their health A self-help book in the truest sense, Inventing Disease and Pushing Pills reassures us about our own health. It is essential reading for doctors, nurses and patients alike.
