Fifty years after the promulgation of the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, a great moment has dawned in which a more dispassionate assessment of the reception of this important document has become imperative in order to enable the Church to undertake necessary steps in realizing the full potential of the renewal envisaged by the Council Fathers. The present study identifies peculiar and diverse challenges confronting the process of reception in the Nsukka Diocese/Nigerian Church today. Das bereits in der 2. Sitzungsperiode verabschiedete Papier der Konzilsväter, stellte die Weichen die Liturgie zu reformieren und neu zu gestalten. Das Dokument ist einer der wichtigsten Beschlüsse des Zweiten Vatikanums das die weitreichendsten Folgen hatte, die nur möglich waren. Die Arbeit soll die wichtigsten Beschlüsse, wie zum Beispiel die Einführung der Muttersprache, herausstellen und geschichtlich erläutern wie es dazu kam. Dazu bedient sich die Arbeit auch einem geschichtlichen Blick auf die Liturgische Bewegung des 19. Jahrhunderts und einem Sonntag vor dem Konzil. Andere Arbeiten beschäftigen sich hauptsächlich mit 'Lumen Gentium' diese Arbeit widmet sich rein der Eucharistie.
