Laura Gorges geht diesem auch heute noch aktuellen Phanomen der Krisenkriminalitat speziell fur das Handelsgut Metall auf den Grund. Die lobbystarke Metallindustrie nutzte ihren politischen Einfluss, um, entgegen den Interessen des Metallhandels, den Gesetzgeber von der Verabschiedung zweier zeitlich befristeter Sondergesetze zu uberzeugen, die unter anderem die fahrlassige Hehlerei von Metallgegenstanden unter Strafe stellten. Wie diese ungewohnliche Krisengesetzgebung im Kontext der besonderen sozio-okonomischen, politischen und rechtlichen Umstande im Jahr 1923 zustande kam und welchen Einfluss sie auf andere Rechtsbereiche bis heute ausubt, ist Gegenstand dieser interdisziplinaren Untersuchung.

Knowledge of the pragmatici sheds new light on pragmatic normative literature (mainly from the religious sphere), a genre crucial for the formation of normative orders in early modern Ibero-America. Long underrated by legal historical scholarship, these media – manuals for confessors, catechisms, and moral theological literature – selected and localised normative knowledge for the colonial worlds and thus shaped the language of normativity. The eleven chapters of this book explore the circulation and the uses of pragmatic normative texts in the Iberian peninsula, in New Spain, Peru, New Granada and Brazil.
