Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2001 im Fachbereich Politik - Sonstige Themen, Note: 1-, Bergische Universität Wuppertal, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Franz Xaver Schönhuber war nicht nur maßgeblich an der Gründung der Partei der Republikaner beteiligt, sondern auch der bedeutendste Politiker der Republikaner. Ohne ihn wäre die Partei und deren Erfolge 1989 und 1992 nicht vorstellbar. Franz Xaver Schönhuber wurde am 10. Januar 1923 in Trostberg/Oberbayern als Sohn des Metzgers und Viehhändlers Xaver Schönhuber, der 1931 der NSDAP beitrat und nach deren Machtübernahme zeitweise als Stellvertretender Bürgermeister tätig war, geboren. Seine Mutter war nach seinen eigenen Angaben sehr religiös, arbeitete aber gleichzeitig in der NS-Frauenschaft. So wurde Schönhuber durch sein Elternhaus sowohl nationalsozialistisch als auch religiös geprägt, was sich in seinem Engagement in der Katholischen Kirche als Ministrant und beim Jungvolk widerspiegelt. Bereits mit 19 Jahren trat er 1942 freiwillig der Waffen-SS bei und wurde Ausbilder der französischen SS-Division Charlemagne, während er weiterhin regelmäßig den katholischen Gottesdienst besuchte. 1947 wurde er von der Spruchkammer in Traustein als „Mitläufer“ der Nationalsozialisten eingestuft und zu einer Mindeststrafe von 500 Reichsmark verurteilt. Schönhuber interpretierte diese geringe Strafe als „moralischen Freispruch“.
