Die Reihe Die achtzigbändige Reihe "Die Götter der Germanen" stellt die Gottheiten und jeden Aspekt der Religion der Germanen anhand der schriftlichen Überlieferung und der archäologischen Funde detailliert dar. Dabei werden zu jeder Gottheit und zu jedem Thema außer den germanischen Quellen auch die Zusammenhänge zu den anderen indogermanischen Religionen dargestellt und, wenn möglich, deren Wurzeln in der Jungsteinzeit und Altsteinzeit. Daneben werden auch Möglichkeiten gezeigt, was eine solche alte Religion für die heutige Zeit bedeuten kann - schließlich ist eine Religion zu einem großen Teil stets der Versuch, die Welt und die Möglichkeiten der Menschen in ihr zu beschreiben. Das Buch Das mit großem Abstand wichtigste Raubtier in der germanischen Mythologie ist der Wolf. Die Krieger fassten sich als Wölfe auf und der ehemalige Göttervater und Kriegsgott ist daher einst der "Große Wolf" Fenrir gewesen - der Gott der Ulfhedin, der Wolfs-Ekstasekrieger. Die Symbolik der Hunde ist mit der Symbolik der Wölfe so gut wie identisch. Das zweite wichtige Raubtier ist der Bär - das Tier der Berserker, der "Bärenfell-Leute". Tyr ist als Kriegsgott auch ein Bär gewesen. Der Fuchs ist bei den Germanen wie bei allen Völkern vor allem der Listige. Die beiden Alcis-Söhne des Tyr, die das Vorbild der germanischen Heerführer gewesen sind, sind auch als zwei Füchse aufgefasst worden. Die übrigen Raubtiere wie Löwe, Leopard, Luchs, Katze, Marder und Wiesel haben kaum eine Bedeutung gehabt.

Invocation is the imagination of a deity and the subsequent identification with this imagined image of the deity. This procedure is one of the basics of magic, because through such an identification one's own possibilities of perception and action become many times greater. This technique goes back to the late Paleolithic Age, when hunters identified themselves with a panther in order to obtain the strength and speed of a panther during their hunt. Later, the grain god was invoked in the Neolithic period, and then the One God was invoked in kingship. The effectiveness of the technique of invocation, of course, like all magical phenomena, cannot be proven by words, but at least described in such a way that you may try this technique yourself. As with almost all things, patience and practice are beneficial, but there are also some methods, such as dream travel, that make the whole thing much easier and more effective.
