Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Linguistik, Note: 1,0, Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg (Institut für Germanistik), Veranstaltung: Komplexe Sätze, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Zuge meiner universitären Ausbildung zum Deutschlehrer absolvierte ich ein allgemeines Schulpraktikum an einem Gymnasium. Während dieses Praktikums hielt ich eine Deutschstunde in einem Grundkurs der Jahrgangsstufe 11. Das Thema der Stunde lautete „Warum verändert sich Sprache?“. Als ich der Klasse die Frage stellte, wieso man mit Gewissheit sagen könne, ob ein Satz grammatisch oder ungrammatisch ist, da waren sich alle Schüler einig. Man verwies darauf, dass schließlich alle Regeln der deutschen Sprache in der Dudengrammatik verankert seien. Ganz falsch war diese Aussage natürlich nicht. Doch konnte mir niemand sagen, wer diese Regeln denn aufgestellt hatte. Das grundlegende Problem lag in der Annahme, dass Sprache ein starres System sei, in dem die einzelnen Elemente und die Relationen zwischen den Elementen eine feste zeitlose Position einnehmen. Den Jugendlichen war gar nicht bewusst, dass Sprache von ihnen nicht bloß „konsumiert“, sondern auch mitgestaltet wird. Wenn ich mich jedoch an den Grammatikunterricht meiner eigenen Schulzeit zurückerinnere, dann fällt es nicht schwer zu verstehen, warum Schüler, aber auch Lehrer so denken. Linke (2001, S. 45) schreibt in diesem Zusammenhang: Zu unserem von der Schule (...) geprägten Alltagskonzept von Grammatik gehört wohl sehr stark die Vorstellung, dass dies ein Lehrgebäude ist, das im Prinzip genauso fest und indiskutabel ist, wie die Urteile fest und indiskutabel scheinen, die man unter Abstützung auf grammatische Regeln über sprachliche Ausdrücke fällen zu glaubt: „Das ist Regel-gerecht, also richtig. – Das verstößt wider die Regel, ist also falsch.“ Aus didaktischer Sicht ist ein solches Verständnis von Grammatik jedoch kaum tragbar. Seit den hessischen Rahmenrichtlinien Deutsch Sekundarstufe I von 1972 bildet „Reflexion über Sprache“ bzw. „Nachdenken über Sprache“ einen wichtigen eigenständigen Bereich in allen Lehrplänen. Schüler sollten damit nicht bloß zum angemessnen Gebrauch von Sprache befähigt werden, sondern diese auch kritisch reflektieren können (vgl. Steets 2003, S. 211). Letztendlich geht es auch darum, in den Schülern ein Sprachbewusstsein zu wecken und dadurch emanzipierte Schreiber und Leser zu gewinnen. Leider konnten „die Ansprüche an einen aufgeklärten, reflektierten Sprachunterricht bisher in der Praxis nicht realisiert werden (...)“ (Steets 2003, S. 211).

Noam Chomsky's Aspects of the Theory of Syntax, published in 1965, was a landmark work in generative grammar that introduced certain technical innovations still drawn upon in contemporary work. The fiftieth anniversary edition of this influential book includes a new preface by the author that identifies proposals that seem to be of lasting significance, reviews changes and improvements in the formulation and implementation of basic ideas, and addresses some of the controversies that arose over the general framework. Beginning in the mid-fifties and emanating largely from MIT, linguists developed an approach to linguistic theory and to the study of the structure of particular languages that diverged in many respects from conventional modern linguistics. Although the new approach was connected to the traditional study of languages, it differed enough in its specific conclusions about the structure of language to warrant a name, “generative grammar.” Various deficiencies were discovered in the first attempts to formulate a theory of transformational generative grammar and in the descriptive analysis of particular languages that motivated these formulations. At the same time, it became apparent that these formulations can be extended and deepened. In this book, Chomsky reviews these developments and proposes a reformulation of the theory of transformational generative grammar that takes them into account. The emphasis in this study is syntax; semantic and phonological aspects of the language structure are discussed only insofar as they bear on syntactic theory.
