Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich Politik - Internationale Politik - Region: Südosteuropa, Balkan, Note: 1,7, Universität Augsburg (Institut für Politikwissenschaft), Veranstaltung: Hauptseminar:"Politikverdruss und Institutionenwandel", 21 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die gegenwärtige türkische Gesellschaft ist gekennzeichnet durch einen fundamentalen Veränderungsprozess, der beginnend von der Gründung der Republik bis heute, insbesondere jedoch in den letzten zwanzig Jahren, durch die kontinuierlichen Modernisierungsanstrengungen des Staates, aber auch durch die diversen diesbezüglichen Gegenbewegungen von seiten der Zivilgesellschaft zu einer äußerst differenzierten und komplexen Gesellschaft führte. So spiegeln vor allem die türkischen Großstädte diese kontrastive Pluralität wider, sind sie doch der Raum, in dem westlich orientierte, in ihrem Verständnis emanzipierte Städterinnen mit traditionell gekleideten Geschlechtsgenossinnen zusammentreffen, die zwar im Zuge der Urbanisierung ihr von der Agrarwirtschaft geprägtes Leben aufgegeben haben, sich jedoch auch nach Jahren nicht den "modernen" Gepflogenheiten der türkischen Metropolen angepasst haben. In diesem Sinne gilt es, die oftmals in elementaren Punkten differierenden Forderungen der verschiedenen Frauengruppen in der Türkei zu untersuchen, um so zu einem Überblick über die jeweiligen - subjektiv empfundenen - Bedürfnisse der Frauen und den diesbezüglichen staatlichen Reaktionen und Handlungen zu gelangen. Nach einer ersten Übersicht über die geschichtliche Entwicklung der Frauenbewegung in der Türkei, ihrer Ziele, Organisation und Zusammensetzung, steht im zweiten Teil der Arbeit der Einfluss der türkischen Frauenbewegung auf den Nationenbildungsprozess und den Demokratisierungsprozess einerseits, aber auch der Einfluss des türkischen Staates sowie internationaler Organisationen auf diese Bewegung im Mittelpunkt der Überlegungen.

Language as a complex and dynamic phenomenon is an important instrument for reflecting individual and social identity. The formation of languages under the influence of specific norms and rules, which depend on historical and cultural developments, goes beyond their mere use as a means of communication. This important new book deals with the changing nature of war in the post-Cold War era and the emergence of new forms of warfare in which warlords, mercenaries and terrorists play an increasingly important role. In the modern era, warfare came to play a crucial role in the formation of states, whereas the new wars emerging at the beginning of the 21st century have mostly gone together with the failure or collapse of states. The author draws out the key shifts involved in this process: from symmetrical conflicts between states to asymmetrical global relationships of force; from national armies to increasingly private or commercial bands of warlords, child soldiers and mercenaries; from pitched battles to protracted conflicts in which there is often little fighting and most of the violence is directed against civilians. Changes in weapons technology have combined with complex economic factors to make the prospect of endlessly simmering wars a real danger in the years to come. Against this background, the author outlines the rise of a novel form of international terrorism, conceived more as a political method of communication than as an element in a military strategy.
