Das Geschäftsfeld Testamentsvollstreckung genießt in Banken und Sparkassen eine zunehmend hohe Aufmerksamkeit. Im Fokus stehen dabei oftmals die potenziell attraktiven Vergütungsansprüche und die Chance, Kundenvermögen möglichst generationenübergreifend an das eigene Institut zu binden. Dennoch findet die Dienstleistung vergleichsweise selten ihren Weg in das operative Geschäft. Als Gründe hierfür sind unter anderem die Befürchtung von Haftungsrisiken, die organisatorischen Herausforderungen, die Ungewissheit hinsichtlich der Rentabilität und das Fehlen eines konsistenten Konzepts für den Aufbau des Geschäftsbereichs zu nennen. Vor diesem Hintergrund entwickelt Stefan Wagner in dem vorliegenden Buch ein Konzept zur Implementierung des Geschäftsfelds Testamentsvollstreckung als Geschäftsmodellerweiterung im Generationenmanagement von Sparkassen. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei die Frage, wie die Dienstleistung ausgestaltet sein sollte, damit sie das Generationenmanagement nachhaltig profitabel ergänzen kann. Trotz der Fokussierung des Buches auf Sparkassen ist in vielen Fällen ein Transfer der Erkenntnisse auf andere Kreditinstitute möglich. Das Buch gliedert sich in einen theoretischen und einen empirischen Hauptteil. Die Konzeptualisierung der Geschäftsmodellerweiterung basiert auf der Auswertung der einschlägigen Fachliteratur zu der Geschäftsmodellumwelt und den Geschäftsmodelldimensionen der Testamentsvollstreckung. Die dabei gewonnenen Erkenntnisse zu den erforderlichen Schlüsselaktivitäten bei der Implementierung der Dienstleistung fasst der Autor in einem Leitfaden zusammen und analysiert die Voraussetzungen für den wirtschaftlichen Betrieb des Geschäftsfelds anhand einer Rentabilitätsbetrachtung. Im Rahmen einer empirischen Erhebung wurden 187 Private Banking-Kunden der Nassauischen Sparkasse zu den Anforderungen und Einstellungen von Vermögensinhabern an die geschäftsmäßige Testamentsvollstreckung durch Sparkassen befragt. Aus den Befragungsergebnissen abstrahiert Stefan Wagner wichtige Erkenntnisse für die kundenorientierte Ausgestaltung und Optimierung des Geschäftsbereichs.
