28 luglio 1989. Quando Nicola giunge a Castel Barone, con il suo zaino in spalla, un biglietto sgualcito con uno strano indovinello in tasca e la testa piena di domande e ipotesi riguardo la sua defunta mamma, non sa ancora cosa troverà, però ha una “missione personale” da portare a termine. La sua vera identità deve rimanere celata, ma nel monastero presso cui è ospite sta accadendo qualcosa di anomalo ed è deciso a usare ogni mezzo a sua disposizione per andare quanto più a fondo possibile nella verità, qualunque essa sia. In una folle corsa contro il tempo, con la mente che inizia a giocargli brutti scherzi, mentre è alla ricerca della soluzione al suo enigma personale dovrà invece risolvere un intricato caso poliziesco… ma scoprirà anche di avere dei nuovi amici, e forse incontrerà il vero amore. Michelangelo Maggiulli è nato a Poggiardo (LE) il 10 ottobre 2000 e vive da sempre in un paesino della provincia, Muro Leccese. A causa del lavoro dei genitori ha sempre passato la maggior parte del tempo pomeridiano con i nonni materni, che lo hanno cresciuto gettando le basi per molti hobby, tra cui la scrittura. All’età di sette anni ha iniziato a studiare pianoforte. Nel 2008 vince il primo premio La Vallonea di Tricase. Nel 2017 apre un canale Youtube in cui pubblica alcune sue composizioni scritte negli anni. Nel 2009, quasi per gioco, entra a far parte del gruppo di recitazione parrocchiale, con il quale partecipa a rappresentazioni stagionali come drammi, tragedie, musical e commedie in vernacolo. All’età di sedici anni, poco prima dell’inizio degli studi superiori, decide di mettersi in gioco diventando arbitro di calcio, e nel 2018 esordisce nei campionati regionali.

Statua dimmi, chi sei? è un’opera in quartine a rime alternate che si susseguono nella stessa struttura metrica in entrambe le parti in cui è suddiviso il testo. Narra di una statua triforme, trovata intorno al 1650 a Polizzi Generosa, Iside secondo lo storico Caruso, il cui etimo è Polis Isidis. Col corpo di donna e tre facce diverse, il misterioso simulacro venne distrutto per volontà di un vescovo che lo ritenne un simbolo pagano. Successivamente giurati e notabili del luogo, indignati per quanto accaduto, si riunirono per sottoscrivere una protesta per la perdita del prezioso reperto. Il testo è suddiviso in due parti: - un dialogo che avviene fra la statua e il sacerdote don Calascibetta, suo custode, prima della distruzione. - un sogno nel quale l’autore si trova catapultato nel mezzo della protesta fra i personaggi dell’epoca. Attingendo a racconto popolare, mitologia e fonti archeologiche, l’autore racconta in forma dialogica, la storia della statua triforme la cui importanza artistica e simbolica non è stata oscurata dopo secoli.
