Fachbuch aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Biologie - Evolution, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Mit den bisher im weißblauen Freistaat nachgewiesenen Gattungen der "Schreckensechsen" befasst sich das Taschenbuch "Dinosaurier in Bayern" Dabei handelt es sich um Cetiosauriscus, Compsognathus, Juravenator und Plateosaurus. Bereits 1834 wurde der bis zu 10 Meter lange pflanzenfressende Plateosaurus bei Heroldsberg unweit von Nürnberg entdeckt. Von ihm kennt man in Deutschland mehr als 50 Fundstellen. 1858 kam der räuberische Compsognathus vermutlich bei Jachenhausen nahe Riedenburg zum Vorschein. Dieses kaum 90 Zentimeter lange Tier betrachtete man früher als kleinsten Dinosaurier der Erde. 1978 barg man zwischen Kulmbach und Kronach fossile Knochen, die vom pflanzenfressenden Cetiosauriscus stammen sollen. Er gehört zu den Elefantenfuß-Dinosauriern mit kleinem Kopf, langem Hals, elefantenförmigen Beinen und peitschenartigem Schwanz. 1998 gelang in Schamhaupten bei Eichstätt der bislang weltweit einmalige Fund des Raub-Dinosaurier Juravenator. Jener "Jäger des Juragebirges" ereichte eine Länge von rund 75 bis 80 Zentimetern. Autor des Taschenbuches "Dinosaurier in Bayern" ist der in Bayern geborene und heute in Wiesbaden lebende Wissenschaftsautor Ernst Probst, der etliche Werke über Dinosaurier und andere Tiere der Urzeit veröffentlicht hat.

Als das Buch ,,Dinosaurier in Deutschland" (1993) von Ernst Probst und Raymund Windolf (1953-2010) erschien, wurde darin nur ein einziger Raubdinosaurier aus Bayern erwähnt. Nämlich der 1859 in einem Steinbruch in Kelheim oder bei Jachenhausen nahe Riedenburg entdeckte truthuhngroße Compsognathus longipes (,,Langbeiniger Zartkiefer"). Doch in den 26 Jahren von 1993 bis 2019 hat sich das Bild drastisch geändert. Laut dem Taschenbuch ,,Raubdinosaurier in Bayern" von Ernst Probst sind inzwischen im Freistaat 17 Raubdinosaurier durch ganze Skelette, Teile von solchen und eine Einzelfeder nachgewiesen. Bei 13 dieser Funde handelt es sich um flugfähige Urvögel der Arten Archaeopteryx lithographica und Alcmonavis poeschli, die man heute als Raubdinosaurier betrachtet. Die übrigen vier Raubdinosaurier sind kleine flugunfähige Reptilien mit und ohne Federn. Sie heißen Compsognathus longipes, Juravenator starki, Sciurumimus albersdoerferi und Ostromia crassipes. Die Erstbeschreiber der bayerischen Raubdinosaurier - wie Hermann von Meyer, Andreas Wagner, Oliver Walter Mischa Rauhut, Christian Foth, Peter Wellnhofer, Ursula B. Göhlich, Luis M. Chiappe, Helmut Tischlinger und Mark A. Norell - werden in Wort und oft auch mit Bild vorgestellt.

In der Jurazeit vor rund 150 Millionen Jahren erfasste eine riesige Flutwelle an einem Strand in Bayern einen kleinen Raubdinosaurier, riss ihn mit sich und spülte ihn in das übersalzene Wasser der Lagune. Das nur hühnergroße Reptil, das zuvor hungrig eine Eidechse gejagt und verschlungen hatte, geriet ins tiefere Wasser und ertrank. So beginnt das Taschenbuch ,,Compsognathus" über einen Zeitgenossen von Urvögeln sowie Flugsauriern in Spatzengröße und Adlerformat. Verfasser sind der Wissenschaftsautor Ernst Probst und der Paläontologe Raymund Windolf (1953-2010). Die beiden haben 1993 das Buch ,,Dinosaurier in Deutschland" veröffentlicht. Daraus stammt der aktualisierte Text über den im Sommer 1859 von dem Gerichtsarzt Joseph Oberndorfer in einem Steinbruch in Kelheim oder Jachenhausen bei Riedenburg entdeckten Dinosaurier. Diesem Fossil gab der Münchner Zoologe Andreas Wagner 1859 den Artnamen Compsognathus longipes (,,Langbeiniger Zartkiefer"). Weltweit kennt man bisher erst zwei Skelette jenes Zwergdinosauriers, einen aus Bayern und einen aus Südfrankreich.
