“Once upon a time, I dreamed I was a butterfly...” This is how Chuang Tzu’s famous anecdote begins. It is a short parable about the relativity of perception, written more than two thousand years ago. Many of us have experienced similar situations and wondered at times if we could tell dreams from reality. “Butterfly’s Dream” expands Chuang Tzu’s story into a surreal quest of adventure, romance, and self-discovery at the end of the 18th century. Despite the fantasy-like atmosphere, the novel accurately follows the laws of physics and would best fit into the “hard sci-fi” category. Alberto is the second lieutenant on Excelsior, a military brig involved mostly on sea-patrolling missions. He has a keen interest in science and a mind inclined towards exploration and introspection. Most of his sailing trips are uneventful, with his ship transporting troops and ammunition to various locations managed by the navy. But things are about to change. When the ship encounters a magnetic storm, the crew members find themselves sailing in uncharted waters. The next day, Excelsior casts anchor at the pier of a mysterious city that doesn’t seem to be located on Earth. Soon, Alberto becomes involved in complex events that make him question the surrounding reality and even his sanity. The fabulous world he gets to explore looks nothing like the world from his space and time. And what are space and time, after all? In this place so different from Earth, Alberto meets Nivit, a beautiful and accomplished physician, and falls in love with her. Soon, they are swept into an unexpected journey of adventure and self-discovery that carries them through stranger and stranger realms and realities. Can the rational mind defy the irrational? Can love defend against extreme weather and death? Does time always flow in the same direction? What is real? What is a dream? A mirror reflecting itself. What would it show? A mirror reflecting another mirror. What would it see? Look inside the mirror, open the door, step onto the path stretching beyond its surface, and you might find out. Are you ready? If you enjoy reading this story, I have a favor to ask: Please write a review about it and recommend it to your friends! But only if you like it!

In 1990 I had several experiences that inspired me to document my nightly dream journeys. I had recently learned about lucid dreaming and after having my first fully lucid dream I became an instant devotee to the art and practice of conscious dreaming. Like others who have had a taste of waking awareness in a dream, it was an eye opening experience that reinvigorated and reinvented the way I perceived the world. After I filled several dream journals with my oneironautic expeditions, I was inspired to take key themes and experiences from my journals and weave a narrative to tie them together in the form of a storybook, The Butterfly Paradox was written and illustrated over the course of 20 years. It is my hope that in sharing these experiences, others will resonate with the motifs that unite us at the most sublime levels. Over the years of connecting with other dreamers, I have learned that we all share archetypal themes that surface in our dreaming minds. We subconsciously dress these archetypal forms into varied costumes and set pieces for the theatrical productions of our dreams. In dreams E=MC; Emotions take on Mass giving the dreaming landscape its beauty and terror at the Speed of Thought. It's a magical place where one is free the ride the whims of the mind. So, take a step behind the curtain and enjoy a backstage pass to the storehouse of consciousness-a plunge into the Alayan Sea."The Butterfly Paradox is a haunting yet whimsical fable about a child's extraordinary adventure to a place where one's state of mind creates one's reality. Aaron Goodnight, a boy whose parents are separated, finds his way to the strange bubble world of Port Utolea where he befriends an enchanting girl named Leela Watermoon. She invites him to the Royal Butterfly Festival but things do not go as planned. Together they encounter several frightening obstacles and must learn that the path to transformation is through the very things they fear the most."

This book is about butterflies & angels including the exploration of what, in terms of imagination, a butterfly may dream of. The butterfly & friends(other butterflies & angels) often interact throughout the book. Additionally, the butterflies love music as do the angels & they find multiple locations to play music, sing to the moon & greet one another as pals. Moreover, the book features beautiful imagery and interesting dream-like verse/text. All in all, This Butterfly Dreams is a wholesome book that I believe young readers will enjoy. Thank you. Sincerely, Christopher.

What Do Dreams Do written by Sue Llewellyn and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-09 with Psychology categories.

We have puzzled over dreams for centuries. From ancient societies, believing dreams to be messages from the gods, Freud's theory of dreams revealing our unconscious minds to modern day experiments in psychology and neuroscience, dreams continue to fascinate but also be a source of mystery. Are dreams just mental froth or do they have a purpose? This book argues that, originally, we dreamed to survive. Dreaming brains identify non-obvious associations, taking people, places, and events out of their waking-life context to uncover complex and, seemingly, unrelated connections. In our evolutionary past, survival depended on being able to detect these divergent, associative patterns to anticipate what predators and other humans might do, as we moved around to secure food and water and meet potential mates. Making associations drives many, if not all, brain functions. In the present day, dream associations may support memory, emotional stability, creativity, unconscious decision-making and prediction, while also contributing to mental illness. Written in a lively and accessible style, and showing the reader how to identify patterns in their own dreams, this book presents a highly original theory of dreaming and will be a compelling read for anyone interested in psychology, consciousness, and the arts, as well as those involved in dream research.
