"Dr. Frisby focuses a bright light on issues that often remain obscured in a fog of polemics, deeply held convictions, and genuine concern for the plight of minority students. Meeting the Psychoeducational Needs of Minority Students cuts through this fog with intense, sharp, clear thinking and data-driven conclusions." —Jeffrey P. Braden, PhD, Professor of Psychology and Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, North Carolina State University "Going beyond superficial 'feel good' or 'feel bad' ideologies to probe what really makes a difference in meeting the needs of often underserved populations, Craig Frisby provides a comprehensive, rigorous, well-written, and entertaining (honest!) work that addresses the intersection of race, ethnicity, and education." —Betty Henry, PhD, School Psychologist, California School for the Blind "Dr. Frisby makes a perceptive and incisive assessment of much of the multicultural ideology currently propagated in professional psychology and education and directly confronts some of the major issues surrounding multiculturalism. Unlike many other critiques that have been proffered over the last few decades, however, Meeting the Psychoeducational Needs of Minority Students also provides many concrete solutions for how to begin changing the current milieu." —A. Alexander Beaujean, PhD, Associate Professor, Baylor University A practical, research-based guide to facilitating positive educational outcomes for racial, ethnic, and language minority students This timely book is written from the perspective of contemporary school psychology for a variety of school personnel, including school psychologists, teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators, with coverage of: The problem of quack multiculturalism Home and family Context for school learning General cognitive ability, learning, and instruction Testing and assessment School discipline and behavior management Crime, delinquency, and gangs School district resources

Fully updated in November 2011 to include Season 32. Now officially the most popular drama on television, Doctor Who has seen many ups and downs in its long and colourful history. From humble beginnings on 23 November 1963 to its cancellation in 1989 and eventual resurrection in 2005, the show has always been a quintessential element of British popular culture. The spine-chilling theme music, the multi-dimensional Tardis, the evil metallic Daleks and the ever-changing face of the Doctor himself have become trademarks of the programme's witty, eclectic house style. Over the years Doctor Who has embraced such diverse genres as science fiction, horror, westerns, history, romance, adventure and comedy - but has never strayed from its first and most important remit: telling damn good stories. Eleven Doctors, a multitude of companions, and a veritable cornucopia of monsters and villains: Doctor Who has it all. 'The children's own programme which adults adore,' said Gerard Garrett in The Daily Sketch newspaper back in the early 1970s - and it's still the perfect summation of the programme's unique charm. This new, updated edition of the best-selling Pocket Essential guide includes Season 32 first aired in September and October 2011, puts all the Doctors under the microscope with facts, figures and opinions on every Doctor Who story televised. There are sections on TV, radio, cinema, stage and internet spin-offs, novels and audio adventures, missing episodes, and an extensive website listing and bibliography.

“A joyful celebration of fan love. Unofficial episode guides don’t come much more engaging than this” (Benjamin Cook, co-author of Doctor Who: The Writer’s Tale). Doctor Who was already the world’s longest-running science fiction series when it returned in 2005 to huge success. Enormously popular, the BBC show encompasses multiple other genres, from horror to comedy to action and historical adventure, and is loved for its uniquely British wit and clever scripting. Its hero, its monsters, and even its theme song have become pop culture icons. In this volume covering six seasons of the new series, two Doctor Who experts provide insights into everything from the history of the show, including Daleks, Cybermen, and the eight Classic Series Doctors, to a detailed episode guide. As Neil Gaiman complained to the authors, “I have just lost four hours to your blasted book. And I only meant to glance at it.” Allons-y!

Steven Moffat S Doctor Who 2011 written by Steven Cooper and has been published by Punked Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012 with Literary Criticism categories.

At over 90,000 words, this is the most comprehensive guide yet published to the 2011 season of Doctor Who. This series of Doctor Who had the greatest ambition yet, as Steven Moffat created the most complex Doctor Who story arc ever. The apparent death of the Doctor in the very first episode set the groundwork for a series full of other shocks and revelations (such as River Song's identity), which ended with a return to the essential mystery that has always underpinned the programme. The format of this book is the same as the one that we laid out in our previous guide to Matt Smith's first series as the Doctor. Steven Cooper has written excellent detailed analyses of each episode, which he published online soon after each episode was broadcast, thus providing an invaluable record of how a long-standing fan reacted to each twist of the plot as it occurred. Kevin Mahoney follows Steven's analyses with his reviews, which he wrote from the perspective of having watched the entire series. This enabled Kevin to gauge exactly how Steven Moffat had put this season together, and to assess the success of his various hoodwinks and sleights of hand. There have been various controversies this series, such as Moffat's novel move to split the series in half. Then there were murmurings of discontent within fandom when the news that there might be fewer than 14 episodes in 2012 leaked out, along with the perennial erroneous tales from the newspapers about the loss of viewing figures. The cancellation of Doctor Who Confidential left some fans fearing for the future of such an expensive show in austere times. Others have gone further than this, to suggest that Doctor Who itself needs a break. However, despite some minor blips in the storytelling department in 2011, this book argues that there is still a great deal to be positive about in Doctor Who. While we haven't quite yet reached another golden age for the programme, the authors of this book believe that the potential is still very much there to achieve this.
