Posing the question of, "Do I dare?" in whether or not to dodge raindrops, the metaphor for "life happens" is unleashed in this inspiring collection of 28 poems and prose from Poet, Artist and Author of the Misthaven of Maine novels, Loretta Boyer McClellan. Using nature in all its might, majesty and tranquility as a recurring theme, readers engage in an emotional ascent in poetic storytelling, both gratifying and transforming. Several forms of poetry are included in this volume, including Haiku and Tanka, known for their richness of season and poignancy. Whether challenged by physical or emotional pain, grief or life's daily rigors; seeking peace, have already found it, or wish to share in a written form of it, Dodging Raindrops: Poems and Prose of Beauty, Peace and Healing offers an empathic approach to resiliency, strength in adversity and being at-one. Totaling 50 pages, the book was intentionally designed to be brief and lightweight, allowing for readers with chronic hand pain, as well as for those in need of shorter reading intervals to read with greater ease. Dodging Raindrops: Poems and Prose of Beauty, Peace and Healing was written for readers ages 12 and up.

For the past decade, Maeve Fitzpatrick has started every January 1st with the creation of a New Year's Resolution list, always with the intention of bettering herself. List after list, month after month, year after year, items remain unaccomplished and, eventually, forgotten. After trading her small town on Florida's Gulf Coast for the crowded streets of New York City and underestimating the struggles of living on her own, Maeve decides to follow her list to a T this year, no matter what it takes. The 'just graduated from college' thing seemed difficult on its own but when a pompous boss, relationship problems, being overworked in a cutthroat industry, losing friendships, bouts of jealousy, and another overseas deployment get added to her plate, she can't avoid the temptation of booking a one-way flight back to Florida. Will help from handwritten letters, video chats, new friends, and her always-supportive family, allow Maeve to successfully navigate a new life in a new city?

Opposition Vanishing written by Ashley Lavelle and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-09-02 with Political Science categories.

This book questions the common understanding of party political behaviour, explaining some of the sharp differences in political behaviour through a focused case study—drawing systematically on primary and archival research—of the Australian Labor Party’s political and policy directions during select periods in which it was out of office at the federal level: from 1967–72, 1975–83, and 1996–2001. Why is it that some Oppositions contest elections with an extensive array of detailed policies, many of which contrast with the approach of the government at the time, while others can be widely criticised as ‘policy lazy’ and opportunistic, seemingly capitulating to the government of the day? Why do some Oppositions lurch to the right, while others veer leftward? Each of these periods was, in its own way, crucial in the party’s history, and each raises important questions about Opposition behaviour. The book examines the factors that shaped the overall direction in which the party moved during its time in Opposition, including whether it was oriented towards emphasising programmes traditionally associated with social democrats, such as pensions, unemployment support, and investment in public health, education, infrastructure, and publicly owned enterprises, as well as policies aimed at reducing the exploitation of workers. In each period of Opposition examined, an argument is made as to why Labor moved in a particular direction, and how this period compared to the other periods surveyed. The book rounds off with analysis of the generalisability of the conclusions drawn: how relevant are they for understanding the behaviour of other parties elsewhere in the world? Where are social democratic parties such as the ALP heading? Is Opposition an institution in decline in the Western world?
