Dolenjske novice (1885-1919) so bile kot časnik z visoko naklado in široko ciljno publiko uporabljene kot vir za raziskavo knjigotrške ponudbe na Dolenjskem ob koncu 19. in v začetku 20. stoletja. Pregledane so bile vse številke časnika od začetka do konca njegovega izhajanja. Namen naloge je ugotoviti, kakšne publikacije je časnik oglaševal, komu so bile namenjene ter na podlagi tega sklepati o knjigotrški ponudbi na Dolenjskem. Publikacije so analizirane po različnih kategorijah in v okviru 5-letnih obdobij izhajanja časnika. Obravnavajo se tudi oblike oglasov, njihovo število v različnih obdobjih ter vpliv cenzure s strani uredništva na vrste oglaševanih publikacij. Analiza je pokazala, da se je oglaševalo raznovrstno gradivo za širok krog bralcev, število oglasov pa je variiralo glede na različna obdobja in vrsto publikacij. V času izhajanja časnika je bilo število oglasov v rahlemu padu, največjo prelomnico pa časnik doživi z začetkom 1. svetovne vojne, ko število objavljenih oglasov močno pade. Oglaševale so se skoraj izključno samo takšne publikacije, ki so bile s strani časnika označene za moralno, versko in politično nesporne. Knjigarne so oglaševale tudi razne tiskovine in drugo gradivo, ki so ga imele na voljo, oglaševale so se tudi tiskarske, knjigoveške in druge storitve. Oglasi imajo večinoma opisno obliko,taksnih, ki vsebujejo slike, različen tisk in druge okrasne elemente je manj. Na podlagi objav v Dolenjskih novicah bi bile možne tudi nadaljnje raziskave knjigotrške ponudbe.

The term “Yugoslavia” first appeared in an article in the newspaper Slovenija in Ljubljana on Friday, October 19, 1849. The author of the article declared that he was not interested in politics, but only in the literary unification of Yugoslavs within the Austro-Hungary Empire.
