The United States has enjoyed unequaled and unrivaled prosperity for decades with seemingly no end in sight. But in the fall of 2008 a curtain briefly opened during the financial crisis, and the world saw for the first time the insiders behind the Wall Street Machine: investment bankers betting the house with your money, politicians looking out after financial insiders, and an economy built on an abyss of bad debt. The 2008 financial crisis also revealed the real growth engine behind the U.S. economy. The prosperity of America over the past forty years was not built on the solid ground of production and savings, which made the U.S. dollar the world's reserve currency, but on debt, consumption, and the unprecedented expansion of credit. During this time, the United States transitioned from the world's largest creditor nation to the world's largest debtor nation. This economic anomaly of holding the world's reserve currency as the largest debtor nation has allowed the United States keep spending for imports, taxpayer benefits, bank bailouts, a series of wars, and insider payments while maintaining the illusion of wealth and prosperity. But all of that is about to change. Now, with its production base offshored and an economy dependent on debt and consumption, the U.S. is entering the early stages of an even greater financial storm. This book will show you the truth about the U.S. economy, the dollar, and how to prepare and even prosper in the coming economic collapse.

getAbstract Summary: Get the key points from this book in less than 10 minutes. This frightening book offers an interesting set of strategies to profit from what the authors see as the imminent collapse of the American currency (and, presumably, economy). It must be said that authors James Turk and John Rubino do not quite succeed in making the case that the economic catastrophe they foresee will happen. For example, they indicate that the value of the U.S. dollar will collapse against other currencies, but then they indicate that these other major currencies will also collapse, leading one to wonder what is collapsing with respect to what. Essentially, they seem to be predicting global hyperinflation, with price levels rising in every country. This scary prospect seems to demand somewhat stronger evidence than provided. However, getAbstract regards the authors' arguments as well worth reading, if only because hyperinflation has occurred in the past and so it is prudent to consider the possibility that it may happen in the future. The authors do a reasonably good job of explaining the various ways an investor might hedge against a dollar collapse by owning gold, precious metals and gold stocks. Turk, who has a Web site that works with a digital gold payment system, is straightforward about having a potential conflict of interest.Book Publisher:Copyright 2004 by James Turk and John RubinoPublished by arrangement with Currency Books/Doubleday, a division of Random House, Inc.

The dollar is in trouble. It has fallen against other currencies for the past three years, and now its orderly retreat could well become a rout. This spells potential disaster for the American economy—and potential riches for a few smart investors. In The Coming Collapse of the Dollar and How to Profit from It, financial gurus James Turk and John Rubino show how the dollar arrived at this precipice, why it will plunge, and how you can profit from the resulting financial crisis. The U.S. today is the world’s biggest debtor nation, printing money with abandon to sustain the illusion of prosperity. The federal government owes $7 trillion and its debt is soaring. As a society, we owe more than $37 trillion, or about $500,000 per family of four. Our trade deficit with other countries is staggering, and to finance this mountain of debt we’re flooding the world with dollars. The inevitable result: The dollar will decline until it is displaced as the world’s dominant currency. Precious metals will soar in value, and gold will reclaim its monetary role at the center of the global financial system. Traditionally a haven during times of uncertainty, gold has risen dramatically since 2001. By the fall of 2004 it was up by nearly 50%, at over $400 an ounce. But this is just the beginning. James Turk, a leading gold authority and the founder of GoldMoney.com, and veteran financial writer John Rubino, show readers how to capitalize on gold’s dramatic climb. In The Coming Collapse of the Dollar, Turk and Rubino reveal which stocks and bonds will falter as the dollar declines and why that decline is virtually inevitable. They offer strategies for using gold coins, gold stocks, gold-based digital currencies, and other hard assets to create a profitable portfolio. And they explain how to make the most of your gold and other precious metal holdings, identifying the opportunities and pitfalls of buying gold mining stocks and the mutual funds that invest in them. America’s debt binge has put its economy at grave risk. The value of the dollar is falling; many stocks are once again wildly overvalued; and bonds, tied to an ever-diminishing dollar, are a disaster waiting to happen. By investing in gold and other hard assets, Turk and Rubino explain how you can protect yourself from these dangers. The Coming Collapse of the Dollar and How to Profit from It is a must read for every investor, whatever the size of his or her portfolio. For more information, visit www.dollarcollapse.com.

The Death Of Money written by James Rickards and has been published by Penguin UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-04-03 with Business & Economics categories.

In this New York Times bestseller and Wall Street Journal bestseller, Rickards explores the future of the international monetary system 'A fast-paced and apocalyptic look at the financial future, taking in financiers' greed, central banks' incompetence and impending Armageddon for the dollar ... Rickards may be right that the system is going wobbly.' Financial Times The international monetary system has collapsed three times in the past hundred years. Each collapse was followed by a period of war, civil unrest, or damage to the stability of the global economy. Now James Rickards explains why another collapse is rapidly approaching. The US dollar has been the global reserve currency since the end of the Second World War. If the dollar fails the entire international monetary system will fail with it. But Washington is gridlocked, and America's biggest competitors - China, Russia, and the Middle East - are doing everything possible to end US monetary hegemony. The potential results: Financial warfare. Deflation. Hyperinflation. Market collapse. Chaos. James Rickards offers a bracing analysis of the fundamental problem: money and wealth have become ever more detached. Money is transitory and ephemeral; wealth is permanent and tangible. While wealth has real value worldwide, money may soon be worthless. The world's big players - governments, banks, institutions - will muddle through by making up new rules, and the real victims of the next crisis will be small investors. Fortunately, it is not too late to prepare for the coming death of money. In this riveting book, James Rickards shows us how. 'A terrifically interesting and useful book...fascinating' Kenneth W. Dam, former deputy secretary of the Treasury and adviser to three presidents James Rickards is the author of Currency Wars, which has been translated into eight languages and won rave reviews from the Financial Times, Bloomberg, and Politico. He is a portfolio manager at West Shore Group and an adviser on international economics and financial threats to the Department of Defense and the U.S. intelligence community. The Dollar Trap written by Eswar S. Prasad and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-08-25 with Business & Economics categories.

Why the dollar is—and will remain—the dominant global currency The U.S. dollar's dominance seems under threat. The near collapse of the U.S. financial system in 2008–2009, political paralysis that has blocked effective policymaking, and emerging competitors such as the Chinese renminbi have heightened speculation about the dollar’s looming displacement as the main reserve currency. Yet, as The Dollar Trap powerfully argues, the financial crisis, a dysfunctional international monetary system, and U.S. policies have paradoxically strengthened the dollar’s importance. Eswar Prasad examines how the dollar came to have a central role in the world economy and demonstrates that it will remain the cornerstone of global finance for the foreseeable future. Marshaling a range of arguments and data, and drawing on the latest research, Prasad shows why it will be difficult to dislodge the dollar-centric system. With vast amounts of foreign financial capital locked up in dollar assets, including U.S. government securities, other countries now have a strong incentive to prevent a dollar crash. Prasad takes the reader through key contemporary issues in international finance—including the growing economic influence of emerging markets, the currency wars, the complexities of the China-U.S. relationship, and the role of institutions like the International Monetary Fund—and offers new ideas for fixing the flawed monetary system. Readers are also given a rare look into some of the intrigue and backdoor scheming in the corridors of international finance. The Dollar Trap offers a panoramic analysis of the fragile state of global finance and makes a compelling case that, despite all its flaws, the dollar will remain the ultimate safe-haven currency.

Crash Proof written by Peter D. Schiff and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-12-15 with Business & Economics categories.

The economic tipping point for the United States is no longer theoretical. It is a reality today. The country has gone from the world's largest creditor to its greatest debtor; the value of the dollar is sinking; domestic manufacturing is winding down - and these trends don't seem to be slowing. Peter Schiff casts a sharp, clear-sighted eye on these factors and explains what the possible effects may be and how investors can protect themselves. For more than a decade, Schiff has not only observed the U.S. economy, but also helped his clients reposition their portfolios to reflect his outlook. What he sees is a nation facing an economic storm brought on by growing federal, personal, and corporate debt, too-little savings, a declining dollar, and lack of domestic manufacturing. Crash-Proof is an informed and informative warning of a looming period marked by sizeable tax hikes, loss of retirement benefits, double digit inflation, even - as happened recently in Argentina - the possible collapse of the middle class. However, Schiff does have a survival plan that can provide the protection that readers will need in the coming years.
