An “utterly engrossing” novel of shapeshifting, sorcery, and two brothers at war by a World Fantasy Award–winning author (Publishers Weekly). Born to the shape-shifting dragon king of Ippa, twin brothers Karadur and Tenjiro share an ancestry, but not a bloodline. Only Karadur carries dragon blood, destined to one day become a dragon and rule the kingdom. In an act of jealous betrayal, Tenjiro steals the talisman that would allow Karadur to take his true dragon form and flees to a distant, icy realm. Now, years later, Tenjiro has reappeared as the evil sorcerer Ankoku. His frozen stronghold threatens to destroy Dragon Keep, and Karadur must lead his shape-shifting warriors on a journey to defeat his brother and reclaim his destiny. With Dragon’s Winter, World Fantasy Award–winning author Elizabeth A. Lynn returns with the kind of richly drawn characters and intricate worlds her fans, both old and new, will love.

But his life changes after he's injured in battle and brought back from death by the hauntingly sad eyes and lilting voice of a woman he's never met. Kangee’s world is turned upside down following an attack on her SpiritWalker family. Her mother has disappeared, and her father has left her in a strange village to care for her younger sisters. When her nights are troubled by nightmares of an evil entity holding her mother captive, she turns to the wounded warrior who enters her dreams. Together, Night Warrior and Kangee embark upon a dangerous quest to save not only her mother, but the world, from the Father of Evil. "The focus of conflict from the colonial era to the cold war, Vietnam at long last is emerging as a global force in trade and culture. Likewise its ceramics tradition, a fusion of eclectic influences and unique forms and forces, is exciting the imagination and delighting the senses of a widening circle of collectors and connoisseurs. The Elephant and the Lotus explores this vital tradition by highlighting over two hundred objects in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Ranging from earthy and practical stoneware produced two millennia ago under Chinese dominion, to the spectacularly decorated ewers, bowls, and limepots created at the pinnacle of Vietnamese civilization a thousand years later, the wares presented here reflect the natural wonders of Vietnam and the ingenuity of its ceramists. With an introduction by John Stevenson that places ceramics at the intersection of artistic expression and national identity, and extensive presentations by renowned authority Philippe Truong, this is both the first complete publication of a remarkable collection and an indispensable introduction to a rapidly growing field in the Asian decorative arts."--Jacket.

Among Herders Of Inner Mongolia written by Christel Braae and has been published by Aarhus Universitetsforlag this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-10-20 with Religion categories.

This is a study of a unique collection of Inner Mongolian artifacts at the National Museum of Denmark. They are described, analyzed and presented in a catalogue of more than 800 items, documenting the daily life of pastoral society in and around the tent, in the herding of the animals, in caravan trade and in hunting, crafts, sports and games, and in ritual life. Information about the objects was obtained during two expeditions to Inner Mongolia in the 1930s led by the Danish author Henning Haslund-Christensen, who had many years' experience of travel and expedition life in Mongolia. This is also a detailed account of the expeditions; of the routes, means and measures, as well as the worries and hopes of the participants; of their struggles with scientific aspirations; and of the conditions for collecting against the backdrop of the Chinese civil war and the Japanese occupation. The First and Second Danish Expeditions to Central Asia took place in 1936-1937 and 1938-1939 respectively. These expeditions were the sole foreign parties with access to the area at the time, and therefore their members were among the few observers of Inner Mongolian pastoral society at a time and place for which information was, and still is, scant and fragmented. Hence, the material objects and data obtained are of great scientific importance in the documentation of the life and material culture of Inner Mongolian herders in the 1930s - the main subject of the present book.
