Nos discours ne servent pas seulement à décrire le monde, mais aussi et plutôt à agir dans le monde. À ce titre, le langage est doué d’efficacité : le concept anglo-saxon de speech act, introduit en philosophie par J.L. Austin dans les années 1950, sert précisément à en rendre compte. Désormais commun en linguistique, il s’est banalisé à mesure que les enjeux conceptuels du traitement du langage en termes d’actes ont été oubliés. C’est en revenant aux sources historiques, culturelles et conceptuelles de l’idée d’efficacité du discours que l’on peut mieux comprendre tous les enjeux de cette caractérisation et préciser les critères d’identification de ce concept. De l’action du discours retrace l’histoire de cette caractérisation – depuis le Moyen-Âge jusqu’à ses usages les plus récents en philosophie, en linguistique ou en logique – et analyse précisément ce que le concept de speech act permet de saisir et d’éclairer à propos du fonctionnement du langage.

Connexions vise à soutenir le Mouvement contre le discours de haine, autrement dit, la campagne de la jeunesse du Conseil de l’Europe pour les droits de l’homme en ligne. Connexions est un outil précieux pour les éducateurs qui souhaitent aborder le discours de haine en ligne sous l’angle des droits de l’homme, tant dans le système éducatif formel que dans le cadre de l’éducation informelle. In 2 Cor. 10–13, as in the entire Pauline corpus, the use of the first person plural is surprising. Paul oscillates between singular ('I') and plural ('We'), sometimes within the same sentence. While this literary feature has never been seriously explored, this study undertakes in the first part an investigation of the meanings of 'we' in ancient Greek texts through several literary genres, from Homer to the Hellenistic period. The second part, devoted to 2 Cor. 10–13, shows the neat architecture of these chapters, and the way the key theological message about weakness (ἀσθένεια) and power (δύναμις) is delivered. Also the occurrences of 'We' and 'I' throughout the text reveal a further underlying theology of authority. Die Idee eines selbständigen Bandes von "Pfander-Studien" entstand nach dem Internationalen Kongreß "Die Münchener Phänomenologie", der an läßlich des hundertsten Geburtstags von Alexander Pfander in München stattfand. Ursprünglich war geplant, die im zweiten Teil des Kongresses im Rahmen einer Arbeitstagung über "Das Werk und die Bedeutung Alexander pfänders" gehaltenen Referate, die bereits vervielfältigt waren, nebst Diskussionsberichten in den vorgesehenen Gesamtband über die Konferenz für die Serie Phaenomenologica einzuschlie ßen. Als sich herausstellte, daß der dort verfügbare Raum -für die meisten Beiträge zu knapp bemessen war und nur die abgekürz ten Texte ohne Diskussion hätten aufgenommen werden' können, tauchte die Idee eines gesonderten Bandes auf. Sie führte alsbald zur Erwägung neuer Beiträge und sonstiger Hilfen für das Ver ständnis des alten und neuen Werkes Pfänders. Von den Kon greßbeiträgen war ohnehin der von Karl Schuhmann ftir ein gesondertes selbständiges Buch" Husserl über Pfänder" vorgese hen, das inzwischen in der Reihe Phaenomenologica erschienen ist. 1 Der Beitrag von Peter Schwankl "Alexander pfänders Nachlaßtexte über das virtuell Psychische" erschien im Journal 0/ Phenomenological Psychology. 2 Die beiden einleitenden Refe rate von Schwankl und Spiegel berg über die damals noch unge druckten Nachlaßwerke Philosophie auf phänomenologischer Grundlage und Ethik in kurzer Darstellung konnten nach deren Erscheinen fortbleiben.

The ALN gained widespread business, popular, and church support by promising francophones both control of a modern Quebec economy and preservation of the traditional social order. As Dirks shows, however, this support came from people with different and sometimes contradictory objectives, causing internal tensions which weakened the ALN from the outset. This weakness was compounded by poor leadership, financial difficulties, and the tactics of the other political parties in Quebec. The Quebec Liberal and Conservative Parties worked independently to undermine the ALN and any possibility of its gaining power in Quebec. Maurice Duplessis, leader of the Quebec Conservative party, skilfully exploited the ALN's weaknesses in the interests of his own party by the formation of the Union Nationale. This coalition of the ALN and the provincial Conservatives capitalized on the popularity of the ALN to win the provincial election of 1935 but ensured that power remained in the hands of what was essentially the Quebec Conservative Party. Dirks' insight into the political history of Quebec is informed by a multitude of sources. She conducted interviews with many of the leading political players of the time, including the late Paul Gouin, the original leader of the ALN. She also consulted many public and private archives, including Gouin's, and was allowed unrestricted access to Duplessis' papers for the period up to 1939, the year the ALN ceased to exist. In relating the rise and fall of the ALN to the socio-economic, ideological, and political developments which shaped Quebec during the early decades of the twentieth century, Dirks reveals its long-term impact on the operation and organization of political parties in Quebec and Canada.
