In questo dialogo il saggista Riccardo Calimani e il rabbino capo di Roma Riccardo Di Segni discutono di ebrei ed ebraismo in modo chiaro, senza nascondere le rispettive differenze di vedute. Chi sono gli ebrei? Che cos'è l'ebraismo? Per rispondere a queste e ad altre domande, due figure d'eccezione si intrattengono in un dialogo genuino e non di maniera. Da un lato Riccardo Calimani, saggista e studioso, certamente un ebreo "laico"; dall'altra Riccardo Di Segni, il rabbino capo della Comunità ebraica di Roma. Entrambi, oltre alla conoscenza dell'ebraismo, portano con sé altri saperi. Calimani ha una laurea in ingegneria e in filosofia della scienza. Il rabbino Di Segni è anche un medico radiologo che ha esercitato a lungo. Forse anche grazie a questa molteplicità di saperi, i due autori, amici da sempre, riescono a comunicare la natura dell'ebraismo attraverso le molte sfumature e differenze dei punti di vista. Un libro necessario, se è vero che parte della malapianta dell'antisemitismo molto deve all'ignoranza.
