I believe that economic growth must have relationship to influence human development. But it must not lead positive human development. Otherwise, when one country is experiencing stable economic growth in long term. It is possible to lead negative human development. I shall indicate as below: To explain whether economy growth can influence human development. We need to research whether economy growth has relationship to influence human development. What is economic growth meaning? Economists explain it means an increase in gross national product (GNP) if all products and services that an economy produces during a specified time period. So, it brings one interesting question concerns economic growth: IS it a quantity based concept, not quality based concept? If economic growth is an only relationship to economic development Otherwise, if it also has quality based concepts, then it has relationship to influence or lead human development. When economy growth is a direct measure of changes in the size of the economy. Whether it is a measure of welfare to human development or sustainable development. Why do we need to concern economic growth? Because political importance means domestic and international trading income and the country

IntroductionIn my this book, I shall indicate actual cases to explain why I believe that any countries are experiencing stable economic growth period, they are possible performing economic growth, but they are not performing human development. Otherwise, they are possible leading quality of life or standing of living to human to be worse. Many economists believe economic growth can cause employment ratio increases to create many jobs to provide to people to work as well as it can encourage many businessmen to feel that it is right time to invest to do any kinds of different businesses. Hence, it seems that , on business development view point, it can lead any business development chances and social consumption desires will be raised. May people ought have more jobs to choose to work. However, on human development view point, whether economic growth can lead human development in success. If economic growth can influence human future development, whether economic growth can lead human future development to be better only, or it can also influence human development to live worse in possible. For example, although economic growth can lead technological development vehicle industry, when economic growth, it encourages many vehicle manufacturers accept to improve to invent many different kinds styles of vehicles, due to many vehicle manufacturers feel many people have jobs to do. So, they ought have more enough money to buy vehicle to drive. However, such as this vehicle consumption market case, it seems that economic growth can lead the vehicle consumption desire to be raised, but economic growth can not guarantee human has clean air to breathe. If global many families expect to buy at least one vehicle to drive. Hence, it will cause air pollution and traffic jam challenge to cause global air pollution level and earth warmth more serious because global many people choose to drive vehicles to replace walking. It is one threat issue to influence human can live in one clean air place in the future , such as our earth. So, it seems that economic growth does not mean that it can give benefits to human development. In summary, I shall give clear opinions to explain why the country is experiening economic growth, it must not mean that it lead human development as the same time. Finally, I hope my readers can make judgement whether my opinions are right or wrong.

This work explores a new development paradigm whose central focus is on human well-being. Increase in income is treated as an essential means, but not as the end of development, and certainly not as the sum of human life. Development policies and strategies are discussed which link economic growth with human lives in various societies. The book also analyzes the evolution of a new Human Development Index which is a far more comprehensive measure of socio-economic progress of nations than the traditional measure of Gross National Product. For the first time, a Political Freedom Index is also presented. The book offers a new vision of human security for the twenty-first century where real security is equated with security of people in their homes, their jobs, their communities, and their environment. The book discusses many concrete proposals in this context, including a global compact to overcome the worst aspects of global poverty within a decade, key reforms in the Bretton Woods institutions of World Bank and IMF, and establishment of a new Economic Security Council within the United Nations.

Economic Development is but one facet of Human Development. This forces us to ask - how do humans develop? Man is a social animal and the growth of our humanity requires various social institutions, such as bureaucracy. The paradox of capitalism is that it is a system ostensibly based on self-interest yet wholly dependent on non-market values for its success. These non-market values are shaped by two much-neglected factors, religion and ethnicity. Economic Development is an applied field; whatever it claims as a conclusion should be an applicable conclusion. This requires attention to all those non-economic factors which translate economic decisions into practice - such as the forces of nationalism versus the pressures of such global powers as US foreign policy and the advice of the IMF/IBRD. Since policy is our goal, theory whose intellectual basis is inaccessible to policy makers or which fails to have application should be minimized. Mathematical models are best avoided and, if they are to be used, the burden of proof must be placed upon their proponents. As insights about the market are limited neither by time nor space, poor countries can learn from rich ones, and vice versa. It is most fruitful to focus on examples of success, such as the East Asian economies. They are the clearest illustration of the fact that rapid economic development is possible even to those who have suffered through imperialism, and possess few natural resources, but have their work and their determination intact. `One good example is enough.'

First in a series of annual reports, this volume is about people and about how development enlarges their choices--access to income, long life, knowledge, political freedom, personal security, community participation, and guaranteed human rights. It measures human development not by the yardstick of income alone, but by the human development index--reflecting life expectancy, literacy and command over resources to enjoy a decent standard of living. The report analyzes the record of human development for the last three decades and the experience of 14 countries in managing economic growth and human development. The volume concludes with human development indicators for more than 130 countries, both developing and developed. ISBN 0-19-306481-X (pbk.): $15.95.

Human development plays a pivotal role in the process of economic development. A country's potential to grow is dependent, not only on physical resources, but also on human resources. Human capital formation is both qualitative and quantitative, in the sense that it involves attainment of the skills, education, and experience, as well as enhancing the number of individuals who possess these qualities. The modern concept of development is much more than the increase in income and output. Rather, it is a multi-dimensional process which involves the reorganization and reorientation of the whole economic and social system. It not only involves radical changes in institutional, social, and administrative structures, but also in popular attitudes, customs, and beliefs. Economic development in modern times is understood, inter alia, in terms of reduction of poverty, inequality, and unemployment in a growing economy. Human capital formation, thus, is central to any development strategy. This book contains a comprehensive study on the inter-relationship between human development and economic growth, covering most of the countries of the world, categorized as: developing countries, high income countries, upper middle income countries, lower middle income countries, low income countries, and all countries taken together.

The Human Development Report, now in its seventh edition, updates the unique Human Development Indicators comparing human development in most countries of the world, and the data tables on all aspects of human development. The special focus of this edition is on the important link between economic growth and human development. The Report maintains that the link is not automatic but can be established through proper policy management, arguing the case for initiating and accelerating economic growth and at the same time accelerating and sustaining human development in different parts of the world. The Report also maintains that the quality of growth is as important as its quantity; otherwise, growth can be jobless, voiceless, ruthless, rootless, and futureless. It identifies employment as an important instrument in translating the benefits of economic growth into people's lives. An indispensable resource for courses in international development, the Report ranks 174 countries according to the Human Development Index (HDI). It also gives the global ranking of more than 100 countries in terms of Gender-Related Development Index (GDI) and the Gender Empowerment Measure (GEM). The first index represents HDI, taking into account gender inequality in capabilities, and the second represents female opportunities in selected economic and political areas. New to this edition is the Capability Poverty Measure (CPM), which is used as an alternative to the traditional income poverty measure. The Report concludes that the future challenge is how to forge and sustain the desired kind of linkage between economic growth and human development in a globalized world which represents both opportunities and threats for the nations of the world.

Towards Human Development written by Giovanni Andrea Cornia and has been published by OUP Oxford this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-04-17 with Business & Economics categories.

Human Development is widely recognised as the overriding goal of development, yet its realization is challenged by growing inequality, macro-economic fluctuations, and recurrent financial crises. This edited collection reflects on the work of Richard Jolly and includes contributions from leading scholars of development, all of whom have worked with Richard Jolly at varying points in his distinguished career. The volume advances thinking in the area of Human Development by discussing the evolution of its conceptualization and the policy implications, and the achievements in related key areas such as education, social protection, and employment. It juxtaposes these theoretical and (at times) real life improvements with disturbing developments in terms of growing inequality and macro-economic instability. It documents the growing income inequality which has characterized both developing and developed countries. It shows that there has been a decline in some countries and identifies the policies adopted in these exceptional cases. It also shows also where and how public expenditure on Human Development in developing countries has been affected by the 2008 financial crisis and presents a new framework for a pro-growth pro-Human Development macro-economics, including suggestions for the countercyclical regulation of financial flows. The book also argues that a series of disruptive factors are nudging the innovation trajectory in new potentially pro-poor and pro-Human Development directions, especially if policies speed-up the diffusion of new efficient appropriate technologies in low and middle income economies.
