La diversidad de propuestas de colectivas y movimientos artísticos emplazados en las calles, plantea un campo de debate para las ciencias sociales sobre las formas de acción colectiva a través del arte en la época contemporánea. Sobre estas prácticas la investigadora de arte María Elena Ramos (2001) señala que en la actualidad estas intervenciones experimentan una creciente y variada escenificación en los escenarios públicos latinoamericanos; acciones que se caracterizan por sus formas y métodos cada vez menos convencionales de plasmar sus obras, por fuera de la academia, por fuera de los museos. Esta acción se ejecuta en las calles donde la creatividad y la espontaneidad caracterizan la diversidad de interpelaciones artísticas. La autora puntualiza que estas dinámicas son de variada índole: desde intervenciones vinculadas al arte y la política hasta reivindicaciones de género y ecológicas, entre otras. (Ramos, 2011: 279-281). A propósito de este último punto señalado por la autora, la presente investigación tiene la intención de estudiar la dimensión política de una práctica situada de arte.
