As três cartas que vamos estudar nesta revista fazem parte das Cartas da Prisão. O nome se deve ao fato de que Paulo estava preso em Roma quando as escreveu (At 28.16). Aos Efésios e a Filemom o apóstolo considera-se "prisioneiro de Cristo" (Ef 3.1; 4.1 Fm 1,9,23), e na carta aos Filipenses, ele menciona as "algemas" (Fp 1.7,14). Estamos falando, provavelmente, dos anos 61-63 d.C. EFÉSIOS. A carta trata dos privilégios e responsabilidades da igreja, o Corpo de Cristo. "E pôs todas as coisas debaixo dos pés e, para ser o cabeça sobre todas as coisas, o deu à igreja, a qual é o seu corpo" (Ef 1.22-23). Uma carta que nos dá excelente base da doutrina bíblica da igreja e nos ensina muitos aspectos práticos da vida cristã. FILIPENSES. "Alegrai-vos sempre no Senhor; outra vez digo: alegrai-vos" (Fp 4.4). É uma carta informal, na qual Paulo abre o coração para nós. Por falar várias vezes em alegria mesmo estando com "algemas", Paulo nos ensina como podemos viver em Cristo quando passamos por circunstâncias difíceis. FILEMOM. A menor epístola do Novo Testamento ensina-nos preciosas lições de misericórdia, amor e perdão. Onésimo, um escravo fugido, mas, depois, convertido. "Ele, antes, te foi inútil; atualmente, porém, é útil, a ti e a mim" (Fm 11). Temos nesta carta um exemplo da sabedoria de Paulo em tratar questões delicadas.
