"There are no ghosts and shit!" Is that true? For Bathely, this question was not an easy one, considering that strange events have been happening around her for almost a year which she simply cannot explain and which have made her life quite, to put it diplomatically, chaotic. And the fact that there doesn't seem to be a single person who believes her doesn't make it any better. But it was all obvious, there was even video footage of it, it was even broadcast live. But still, somehow they always managed to explain it. All it meant for her was a very unpleasant question: Was she mentally healthy? She felt as if the universe wanted to erase her, like she had never existed. But was this really the case? Or was it more like she was, once again, running in circles and when she did manage to break out of it, it was in the wrong direction because she didn't dare open her eyes out of fear of seeing where she was actually running to? She felt out of step with the world, as if this reality was one she had to decipher. There were errors in the system and they had an impact on her life, on her. The only question was: Why? There was a door. She just had to open it. daseigengraudieserie.blogspot.com DeviantArt: TErrorInTheSystem

Eigengrau is the color we see when we close our eyes, an aimless sort of inner vision. It's what these stories are about. A collection of ten flash and short stories that would best be described as quiet horror, with a light dose of science fiction, some surrealism - and just a smidgen of unimaginable terrors. If it was a movie it'd be rated R - a bit of foul language, some disturbing imagery. This "Murder Mystery" is slightly more disturbing than our hero expected. "Beyond the sea" or maybe even closer, lies our every future vice and dream. The motto, "Take the standards" might not offer a solution after all. "The dances and the marches" focuses on a rambling hobo, as he eats and eats. "Costume play" delves into the disturbing ways of future cosplaying. "On the hunt" we find them, get a glimpse of their world - so much like ours, but not really. "Singularity and the moving hole," about that moment of mass realization. Over a hole. "What you will" ends with a miraculous answer to her prayers. A "Troll post" is not a safe place to be. "Stars somewhere" says the man, lost in what could only be a dream.

The works of Daniel Lergon (b. 1978) captivate as a result of their minimalistic compositions and particular materiality. They are painted not with conventional paints, but with transparent lacquers, metal powders, and water on special grounds. This gives rise to pictures that look completely different depending on the viewer's standpoint on the retroreflective fabrics.Lergon juxtaposes this type of painting with works painted with metal powder on the bare wall. His abstract motifs and the use of special materials revolve around the juxtaposition of light and painting. This new publication presents works that the artist created in the period between 2009 and 2016.English and German text.

Through the frame of Zoom, this collection of essays examines the rapid emergence of videoconferencing in everyday life under COVID-19, its preexisting performative logic, and the ongoing implication of these practices for millions of individuals and institutions. The year 2023 marked the end of the World Health Organization's classification of the COVID-19 outbreak as a “public health emergency of international concern,” yet many of the organizational and institutional restructurings that occurred in the rapid response to the pandemic have remained firmly in place. The prevalence of videoconferencing in everyday life marks one such instance, not only highlighting the dramatic social and cultural transformations that occurred during a period of lockdowns, social distancing, and stay-at-home orders, but also serving as an index of all that has emerged as the “new normal” since March 2020. Overnight, it seemed, Zoom emerged as the default videoconferencing platform, rapidly morphing from brand name to eponymous generic. While this volume focuses predominantly on Zoom and its place in the collective imagination and daily practice of those of us whose lives are profoundly caught up in digital networks, many of these insights presented here apply to other videoconferencing platforms as well, and a supporting logic that has governed neoliberal lives since long before the first lockdowns began. The twelve chapters in this collection explore how videoconferencing platforms in general, and Zoom in particular, have provided individuals and institutions new modes of “engagement,” while at the same time reifying, normalizing, and domesticating modes of surveillance, control, and marginalization that have been part and parcel of a networked-based performative logic for nearly a century.

Central Processing Of Visual Information A Integrative Functions And Comparative Data written by H. Autrum and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Medical categories.

The present volume covers the physiology of the visual system beyond the optic nerve. It is a continuation of the two preceding parts on the photochemistry and the physiology of the eye, and forms a bridge from them to the fourth part on visual psychophysics. These fields have all developed as independent speciali ties and need integrating with each other. The processing of visual information in the brain cannot be understood without some knowledge of the preceding mechanisms in the photoreceptor organs. There are two fundamental reasons, ontogenetic and functional, why this is so: 1) the retina of the vertebrate eye has developed from a specialized part of the brain; 2) in processing their data the eyes follow physiological principles similar to the visual brain centres. Peripheral and central functions should also be discussed in context with their final synthesis in subjective experience, i. e. visual perception. Microphysiology and ultramicroscopy have brought new insights into the neuronal basis of vision. These investigations began in the periphery: HARTLINE'S pioneering experiments on single visual elements of Limulus in 1932 started a successful period of neuronal recordings which ascended from the retina to the highest centres in the visual brain. In the last two decades modern electron microscopic techniques and photochemical investigations of single photoreceptors further contributed to vision research.
