Jahrhundert ein neues System entwarf, mit dem Ziel, den Menschen aller gesellschaftlicher Schichten eine Chance auf Bildungserwerb zu ermöglichen. Sowohl Wilhelm als auch sein Bruder Alexander von Humboldt studierten zu Zeiten der Epoche der Aufklärung in Berlin und kamen so mit Schriften des Immanuel Kants in Verbindung. Darauf basierend kam Wilhelm von Humboldt zu Überlegungen über die Menschheit und die Notwendigkeit von Bildung. Seinen Überlegungen folgten Ideen, wie Bildung optimal zu gestalten sei. In kaum einem seiner Werke geht er zwar ausschließlich auf den Aspekt der Bildung ein, bezieht sich aber in den meisten mit darauf. Somit lässt sich durch Verknüpfung seiner Werke erkennen, welche Bedeutung Wilhelm von Humboldt Bildung zusprach und auf was für einem Menschenbild dieses basierte. In der folgenden Hausarbeit wird nun dieses Menschenbild sowie Humboldts Sicht auf Bildung erörtert, sowie als Vergleich Annahmen des Immanuel Kants hinzugezogen. Weiter wird der Blick auf den Geschlechterunterschied gelegt, den Humboldt sowohl erkannte als auch in seinen Werken thematisierte.

Die Arbeit bietet eine begriffsgeschichtliche Analyse, die auf die Provokation antwortet, Bildung sei historisch überholt oder empirisch unbrauchbar. Ausgehend von Ausprägungen des Bildungsverständnisses in der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts werden im Hauptteil der Arbeit Wurzeln des deutschen Bildungsbegriffs herausgearbeitet, u. a. bei Meister Eckhart, Nikolaus von Kues, Wilhelm von Humboldt, Herder, Fichte oder Schiller. Vor allem Momente der Verinnerlichung und Vergeistigung charakterisieren das klassische Verständnis, das Bildung vor allem als Privileg des Bürgertums versteht. Gerade durch den deutschen Idealismus wurde Bildung mit dem Begriff eines starken, sich selbst organisierenden Subjekts verbunden. Demgegenüber betont Egbert Witte, dass sich Bildung gegen jeden" Verfügungsrationalismus"sperrt, und plädiert für eine veränderte Auffassung von Bildung, in der Momente von Versagung und Entzug, Unverfügbarkeit und Unzulänglichkeit konstitutiv sind. Auch wenn die Annahme einer Allmacht von Bildung somit als entzaubert gelten darf, ist auch die gegenteilige Annahme der Ohnmacht von Bildung nicht überzeugend. Vielmehr geht es darum zu zeigen, inwiefern Bildung - auch unter Rückgriff auf voridealistische Bildungsideen, etwa bei Meister Eckhart - im 21. Jahrhundert als allgemeines Gut zu begreifen ist und einen kritischen Stachel zu bewahren vermag.

Appointed from Cairo by command of the Fatimid Imam-caliph al-Mustansir to serve first as a d?'?, and then as the hujjat, for the entire region of Khur?s?n, he maintained his allegiance both to his mission and his Imam-caliph for the rest of his life, even when threatened and driven into exile. Written during his exile in Badakhsh?n in the year 1070, N?sir-i Khusraw here develops a powerful presentation of both Aristotelian philosophy and Ismaili exegesis, or ta'w?l, and strives to show that they are ultimately in harmony. The work is presented as a learned commentary on a long philosophical poem, written in the previous century and sent to N?sir by the am?r of Badakhsh?n, 'Al? b. al-Asad, who copied the poem out in his own hand from memory and asked the poet-philosopher to explicate it.
