Examensarbeit aus dem Jahr 2003 im Fachbereich Didaktik - Geowissenschaften, Note: sehr gut, Universität Bremen (Geographiedidaktik), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Zeichnungen verbildlichen das chinesische Sprichwort (zitiert nach OTTO 2003, S. 2): „Ich höre und ich vergesse, ich sehe und ich erinnere, ich tue und ich verstehe.“ Es ist wissenschaftlich belegt, dass Gehörtes gerade mal zu ca. 20% im Gedächtnis bleibt, wohingegen Gesehenes zu ca. 30% und selbst Ausgeführtes zu ca. 90 % vom Menschen behalten wird (vgl. SCHMIDTKE 1995, S. 13). Hieraus lassen sich Forderungen an den Unterricht ableiten, welche für die Lerneffektivität von großer Bedeutung sind: Anschaulichkeit, Lernen mit allen Sinnen, Selbsttätigkeit, Schüler- und Handlungsorientierung. Von den Lehrern 1 wird erwartet, dass sie ihren Unterricht motivierend und interessant gestalten und den Schülern Schlüsselqualifikationen wie z.B. Problemlösungskompetenz vermitteln. In den letzten Jahren wird das Experiment oft als eine Unterrichtsmethode genannt, welche diesen Forderungen gerecht werden kann. SALZMANN (1986, S. 6) war einer der ersten Didaktiker, der dem Experiment im Geographieunterricht die Eigenschaften „Anschauung, Selbsttätigkeit und Motivation“ zuwies. Auch SCHMIDTKE (1995, S. 14) ist der Meinung, dass „der Behaltwert selbst durchgeführter oder miterlebter Experimente [...] neben ihrer motivierenden Ausstrahlung auf das gesamte Unterrichtsgeschehen das entscheidende Argument für ihre Integration in die Geographiestunde [...]“ ist. WILHELMI (2000, S. 7) sieht die Problemorientierung als „zentrale Forderung an den heutigen Unterricht“, welche „ideal mithilfe des Experiments umgesetzt werden“ kann.
