Bab 4 memaparkan faktor yang menyebabkan kemiskinanan, konsep dan indikator kemiskinan dan hubungan kemiskinan dengan pangan dan Gizi. Bab 5 menguraikan kebijakan pangan dan gizi dan penyusunan kebijakan dan kemitraan gizi. Bab 6 menjelaskan ketahanan pangan gizi baik definisi, dimensi dan cara pengukuran ketahanan pangan dan gizi. Bab 7 menjelaskan konsep ekonomi gizi, teori dan konsep perilaku konsumen, dan cara menganalis biaya manfaat dan biaya efektivitas pada program kesehatan.

Manusia dengan kualitas-kualitas yang dimiliki, akan terus berhadapan dengan berbagai permasalahan dan tantangan dalam hidup dan kehidupannya, akan terus berhadapan dengan realitas atau kenyataan-kenyataan baik yang sifatnya menyenangkan dan menggembirakan serta menguntungkan maupun yang sifatnya kurang/tidak menyenangkan, mengecewakan, menyedihkan, merugikan serta menyengsarakan. Dalam konteks tersebut, maka manusia dengan kualitasnya akan dipaksa ataupun dimotivasi untuk terus belajar, yaitu: belajar memikirkan, belajar mengambil keputusan, belajar bertindak, dan pada akhirnya belajar menjadi manusia yang bijaksana, rasional atau berakal sehat dan cerdas. Abstract: Nutritional states result from both biological and cultural forces. The consideration of nutritional problems from a biocultural perspective comprises the field of nutritional anthropology. Eleven papers are presented representing the efforts of researchers who have examined nutrition in this social context. Their theoretical approach combines the nutritional and social sciences in investigations of the sociocultural, cognitive and ecological aspects of food. The methodology of nutritional anthropology is applied in a study of women's roles in rural Africa. Multi-national agribusiness, neo-malthusians, and neo-colonialism are described as reasons for Third World hunger. Food aid programs should be instituted only for real emergencies so that local food production is not discouraged. Food production problems in these countries need to be solved based on local needs, not Western models. (as).
