Ia dengan ketajaman analisisnya berhasil membongkar dan memperlihatkan kelemahan-kelemahan gagasan tersebut dan menawarkan suatu konsep yang sama sekali bukan hasil dari upaya mencocokkan gagasan Eropa dengan syariat Islam, seperti yang lazim dilakukan para intelektual muslim pada saat itu. Selain itu, kehadiran Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr dengan gagasan-gagasan cemerlangnya dalam pergumulan pemikiran ekonomi menjadi menarik untuk diperbincangkan, disebabkan orientasi pemikirannya memiliki ciri khas yang senantiasa relevan dengan konteks kekinian dan menjadikan kajian ekonomi Islam sebagai salah satu cabang ilmu keislaman semakin aplikatif untuk diimplementasikan dalam kehidupan umat Islam.
