La vida de las personas y el entorno en el cual transcurre conforman la trama de un tejido que puede ser analizado de distintas maneras. Este libro condensa varias miradas desde las cuales ese tejido puede ser analizado. Las clases sociales constituyen el hilo con el que la trama está construida. Desde una perspectiva teórico-metodológica macrosocial se analizan la estructura de clase y su inserción en la estructura económica, los procesos de movilidad social entre tres generaciones según origen migratorio y el efecto de la zona de residencia en la movilidad social intergeneracional. Desde una perspectiva microsocial se analiza en el contexto de las clases sociales y las diferencias residencia les el inicio de la vida laboral y los lazos sociales. Desde esa misma perspectiva el libro incluye el análisis de laidentificación de clase y las auto-representaciones de las trayectorias ocupacionales y la agencia humana. La segunda parte del libro incluye una descripción cuidadosa de las distintas etapas del diseño de esta investigación. Entre ellas se destacan: la elaboración del cuestionario de la encuesta PI-Clases (2016), la construcción de una muestra probabilística multi-etápica de 1065 hogares del AMBA, la organización del trabajo de campo, la operacionalización de las principales variables y la construcción de los instrumentos y manuales de código usados en el proyecto.
