Justo antes de sentarme a poner por escrito estas lneas, acababa yo de llegar de ah. S, El bosque enfermo no solo es cuestin de un ttulo: se trata adems de un lugar. Una especie de umbral a otros sitios que me reservar para no destripar la trama y desanimar a quien se hubiese sentido atrado por ella. Por qu ha enfermado el Bosque? A pesar de la densa niebla que lo gobierna, es posible ver al poeta yendo de aqu para all, golpeando con los tobillos la extensin de su gabardina, siempre en busca de lo inasible: de respuestas a sus visiones tal cual le contesta a un cuerpo sin rostro personaje clave curioso este por saber que lo ha motivado a entrar en este lugar. El poeta est solo, como lo estamos todos, y se dedicar entonces a retratar el hecho con toda honestidad. De ah en parte su necesidad de acercarse al pasado, sitio este en que reside una dimensin de su verdad, que es tambin la nuestra. A diferencia de Dante, en la Divina Comedia, no hay un Virgilio que le sirva de gua. Tampoco un crneo como el de Yorick en el Hamlet de Shakespeare, cuyo protagonista sostiene para mirarlo y aceptar que la vida es una muerte que viene, en palabras de Borges. Tengo mucho fro ahora mismo, de tanta belleza que entre la melancola se puede encontrar. Por eso callo tambin ante Las Pesadillas del poeta, haciendo caso a Octavio Paz para quien explicar un poema constitua un pecado, como pecado sera tambin robar al lector la oportunidad de internarse entre la trgica espesura y tropezar con, lo que tenga que tropezar. The Call of Cthulhu is one of Lovecraft's best-known works. It is the only story written by Lovecraft in which the extraterrestrial entity Cthulhu himself makes a major appearance. Narrator Francis Wayland Thurston, recounts his discovery of the strange notes left behind by his granduncle, George Gammell Angell, a prominent Professor of Semitic languages at Brown University. At first the story revolves around a small bas-relief sculpture found among the papers, which the narrator describes: "My somewhat extravagant imagination yielded simultaneous pictures of an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature.... A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque and scaly body with rudimentary wings". The sculpture is the work of Henry Anthony Wilcox, a student at the Rhode Island School of Design who based the work on delirious dreams of "great Cyclopean cities of titan blocks and sky-flung monoliths, all dripping with green ooze and sinister with latent horror". Frequent references to Cthulhu and R'lyeh are found in papers authored by Wilcox. Angell also discovers reports of "outre mental illnesses and outbreaks of group folly or mania" around the world (in New York City, "hysterical Levantines" mob police; in California, a Theosophist colony dons white robes to await a "glorious fulfillment")... Howard Phillips Lovecraft (1890-1937) was an American author who achieved posthumous fame through his influential works of horror fiction. He is now regarded as one of the most significant 20th-century authors in his genre. Some of Lovecraft's work was inspired by his own nightmares.
