Escogimos el tema de nuestra tesis por su interés en el marco de los estudios que han tratado sobre la contienda civil española y por su marginación en la historiografía hispano-marroquí, al observador que la mayor parte de los historiadores e investigadores han concentrado sus estudios sobre otras participaciones, caso de la alemana, italiana, soviética, de la Bridadas Internacionales, etc.; precisamente todas, menos la marroquí. En gran parte la ausencia de estudios se explica por las tremendas dificultades que plantea la investigación y la carencia y estado en que se encuentra la documentación de archivo precisa. Tratamos en el primer capítulo la situación de Marruecos durante la Guerra Civil, empezando por la aclaración de las causas y los acontecimientos del golpe de estado franquista en la zona del Protectorado Español, la actitud oficial y del movimiento nacional marroquí, sin olvidar las causas y el proceso de reclutamiento de los voluntarios marroquís hasta su llegada a los frentes españoles. En el segundo capítulo titulado"Los marroquíes ante la guerra civil española", y la primera mitad del tercer capítulo titulado "Los marroquís ante la guerra de España" he tratado el tema de las acciones de guerra llevada a cabo por los soldados marroquíes en los frentes españoles. En la segunda mitad del tercer capítulo, abordamos la cuestión de la participación marroquí al lado de la República así como la posición de los judíos marroquíes durante la contienda y la posición de los voluntarios marroquíes dentro de los pactos del Comité de No Intervención. En el cuarto capítulo titulado"La vida social, religiosa, psicológica y económica de los compatientes marroquíes en los frentes y retaguardia españolas" se aborda la vida cotidiana de soldados en los diferentes teatros de operaciones, en el frente y detrás de las lineas de combate durante la contienda española, así como su situación después de hacer finalizado la guerra.
