Juegan partidas en las que tienen desventaja sin darse cuenta. Cuando tienen suerte creen que han jugado bien. Reciben lecciones de juego de otros jugadores y creen que han tenido mala suerte. Piensan que no necesitan trabajar su juego, y si lo piensan, no tienen ni idea de por dónde empezar. No entienden qué pueden y qué no pueden controlar, y se les suele escuchar diciendo: “Sabía que saldría un rey” o “Siempre gano con AsDama”. Puedes ser un jugador ganador que reconoce las deficiencias de un mal jugador, pero en lo que se refiere a juego mental, no eres muy diferente a ellos. Aunque seas un jugador sólido, serás un pescado en el juego mental si: 1. Cambias una estrategia ganadora porque estás en una racha buena o mala. 2. Nunca reconoces cuando alguien ha jugado bien contra ti y crees que todos contra los que juegas son malos o tienen suerte. 3. Tratas de ganar todas las manos. 4. Crees que el resultado de una mano se puede cambiar al gritar, rezar o por jugar tu mano favorita. 5. Te frustras cuando un jugador débil juega mal una mano y le das lecciones sobre su juego. 6. Crees que cometes un error al perder una mano que has jugado correctamente. 7. Piensas que la solución a una mala racha es parar de jugar o cambiar de nivel. 8. Lees un libro de póker completo y te crees que ya sabes todo lo que hay en él. 9. Ves un vídeo de Phil Galfond y crees que puedes destrozar las mesas como él. 10. Crees que estás gafado o que el resto tiene más suerte que tú. 11. Crees que se puede leer la mente de los rivales. 12. Juegas más manos cuando estás ganando/perdiendo. 13. Juegas menos manos cuando estás ganando/perdiendo. 14. Juegas mal cuando el nivel de apuestas es tan bajo que no le das importancia.
