Los comentarios han surgido precisamente del acompañamiento en la práctica del zen.Ana María Schlüter Rodés, nacida en Barcelona, estudió Teología en Nimega y es doctora en Filosofía y Letras por la Universidad de Barcelona. Desde 1958 es miembro del instituto religioso de Mujeres de Betania. Comprometida durante años con el movimiento vecinal de un barrio periférico de Madrid, es profesora de ecumenismo en varias facultades de Teología.En 1985 fue nombrada maestra zen por Yamada Kôun Roshi y es la fundadora de Zendo Betania, con sede principal en Brihuega (Guadalajara), donde reside desde entonces.
