This book studies the normative intersection between integration, immigration and nationality in the European Union (EU). It examines the relationship between integration and the legal frameworks of admission, stay and access to nationality by third country nationals at national and European levels. Integration is being subject to multifaceted processes transforming its traditional policy and legal settings, as well as its classical theoretical premises and approaches. The Europeanisation of immigration policy has provoked the emergence of distinctive European approaches on integration. The legal elements of integration are being developed through two parallel settings: the EU Framework on Integration and European immigration law. These venues constitute two of the main pillars upon which the common EU immigration policy is being constructed, and their nexus raises several elements in need of reflection and study. This book examines the processes through which integration becomes a norm in nationality and immigration law and policy at the national and EU levels, and the implications of these processes for the legal status of third country nationals and the overall coherency of the common EU immigration policy.

En la actualidad, es frecuente que tanto los/las abogados/as como las personas jurídicas tiendan a trascender las fronteras entre Estados de la Unión para prestar sus servicios profesionales. Por ello, la profesión de la abogacía debe ejercitarse en la práctica con el menor número de obstáculos que impidan el libre ejercicio de la misma dentro de la Unión Europea. No obstante, la regulación de la libertad del ejercicio de la abogacía ha ido evolucionado desde su origen en el Tratado Constitutivo de la Comunidad Europea hasta su actual regulación mediante la adopción de Directivas comunitarias. Por consiguiente, el presente trabajo pretende realizar un análisis exhaustivo del proceso de armonización de la profesión de abogado/a de conformidad con el Derecho de la Unión Europea. De esta manera, estudiaremos, en primer lugar, la libre prestación de servicios como una de las libertades que caracterizan y consolidan el mercado interior de la Unión Europea, haciendo especial hincapié?en la delimitación con el derecho de establecimiento. Una vez definido los grandes principios que se relacionan con el ejercicio de la abogacía, y que implican la libertad de ejercicio y de constitución de sociedades, por parte de profesionales como de personas jurídicas, en cualquier otro Estado miembro, pasaremos a estudiar las condiciones y limitaciones de su ejercicio, y finalmente su examinar su aplicación en el ordenamiento jurídico español. El estudio en su conjunto requiere la remisión de manera constante a la jurisprudencia del Tribunal de Justicia que ha venido desarrollando una labor fundamental de interpretación, por ello, se ha analizado desde las sentencias clásicas en la materia hasta las más recientes.
