Este libro recorre paso a paso Los Hechos de los Apóstoles, combinando la exégesis científica con una visión pastoral liberadora. PABLO RICHARD, nacido en Chile en 1939, es sacerdote diocesano. Licenciado en Teología por la Universidad Católica de Chile y en Sagrada Escritura por el Pontificio Instituto Bíblico de Roma, ha realizado estudios bíblicos y arqueológicos en la Escuela Bíblica de Jerusalén. Doctor en Sociología de la Religión por la Universidad de la Sorbona, es también Doctor "honoris causa" por la Facultad Libre de Teología de París. Actual director del DEI (Departamento Ecuménico de Investigaciones), es catedrático de Sagrada Escritura en la Escuela Ecuménica de Ciencias de la Religión de la Universidad Nacional y en la Universidad Bíblica Latinoamericana de Costa Rica.

Recopilación de trabajos sobre los comienzos del cristianismo en Palestina. Los dos primeros capítulos estudian la transmisión de los recuerdos sobre Jesús en la tradición oral y en el Documento Q. Otros tres están dedicados a algunos aspectos centrales del ministerio público de Jesús (su actitud filial, sus exorcismos y sus sanaciones). Los cuatro restantes, en fin, indagan sobre los primeros grupos de discípulos que continuaron el proyecto iniciado por Jesús en Galilea y Judea. El estudio de estos primeros grupos de discípulos reviste una especial dificultad, porque es muy poco lo que las fuentes nos dicen directamente acerca de ellos, pero esta etapa de los comienzos del cristianismo es tan importante que merece la pena intentar conocerla un poco mejor. En este libro se recurre con frecuencia a modelos de las ciencias sociales para recuperar contextos y comprender fenómenos que hoy nos resultan lejanos o extraños. Esta forma de abordar los antiguos textos cristianos ayuda a hacer preguntas para tratar de recuperar el mundo de relaciones y valores que sus autores y destinatarios compartían. No se trata, en absoluto, de reducir el mensaje de los textos a categorías sociales, sino de iluminarlos para comprenderlos en toda su profundidad.
