------------- An almost 20-year creative career, five published books and many national and international awards -among them the Miguel Delibes Narrative Award 2009-, back José Ignacio García as one of the best Spanish short-story writers of the 21st century. A writer who bases his way of understanding literature on his immaculate language, sometimes exuberant, others concise; on the human feelings full of realism that his plots depict; on the vertiginous narrative pace of his stories; and on endings which are generally sudden and surprising. And in order to prove it, he has chosen thirteen of the most representative and awarded stories of the different stages of his career as a companion for this first journey along the Internet seas ; from The visions of Toña, which let him burst strongly in the Castilian narrative scene, asserting himself in the prestigious International Award of Guardo among more than 1000 authors from all around the planet, through the curious adaptation of Christmas to the modern times depicted in The miracle of the wise ox, to The secret of her name, which gives the title to this compilation, and to Wine Room, which are the two best stories that have come out of his pen according to many experts’ opinion. Among the diverse structures of these thirteen stories which are not superstitious at all, the reader will be able to find oxen disguised as the Three Wise Men, love reunions taking place after fifty years of uncertain yearnings, couples who are born, grow up and die at the same time, trashy wine tasters who replace real experts, football trainers who present the strategies of oblivion on the pitches of failure every Sunday, boyfriends who get amazed before certain family pictures, almost perfect murders and Viking princesses gifted of an exuberant beauty which in the end, like almost every story of this type, may not be what they seem to be. Or they may. Although it is the reader who will have to decide on that.

An almost 20-year literary career; more than three hundred stories written and published on several anthologies, compilations and specialised magazines; five published books and many awards- among them the Miguel Delibes Narrative Award 2009-, as well as the almost unanimous opinion of critics and readers back José Ignacio García as one of the best Spanish short-story writers of the 21st century. A writer who bases his success on his immaculate language, sometimes exuberant, others concise; on the human feelings full of realism that his plots depict; on the vertiginous narrative pace of his stories; and on endings which are generally sudden and surprising. He is more enthusiastic about stoves and good stews than about social networks, so García hadn’t shown too inclined to leave the warm paper scent and its touch until now, to give in to the temptation of Online editions. However, he is convinced that one has to be revitalised so as to keep on living and prevent the progress train from running over him, and he accepted the proposal by E2E4 Media of launching a new literary ship, this time along the Internet seas, choosing for this journey’s crew thirteen of the most representative stories of the different stages of his career; from The visions of Toña which let him burst strongly in the Castilian narrative scene almost two decades ago, through the curious adaptation of Christmas to the modern times depicted in The miracle of the wise ox, to The secret of her name, which gives the title to this compilation, and to Wine Room, which are the two best stories that have come out of his pen according to many experts’ opinion. Among the diverse structures of these stories which are not superstitious at all, the reader will be able to find oxen disguised as the Three Wise Men, love reunions taking place after fifty years of uncertain yearnings, prostitutes who face life as they can, couples who are born, grow up and die at the same time, trashy wine tasters who replace real experts, football trainers who present the strategies of oblivion on the pitches of failure every Sunday, boyfriends who get amazed before certain family pictures, almost perfect murders and Viking princesses gifted of an exuberant beauty which in the end, like almost every story of this type, could not be what they seem to be. Sociedad De Clases Poder Pol Tico Y Estado written by Jesús Sánchez Rodríguez and has been published by Al Margen Editorial this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-12-01 with categories.

The Chilean Dictatorship Novel written by Helene Carol Weldt-Basson and has been published by University of New Mexico Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-06-01 with Literary Criticism categories.

Though the civil-rights abuses by the Pinochet dictatorship in Chile (1973-1990) were later recognized by reparations and truth commissions, the difficult emotions suffered by the victims and their families were often pushed into the background or out of the national conversation entirely. In response, novelists began writing memory of feelings experienced during the dictatorship into their books. In The Chilean Dictatorship Novel, Weldt-Basson examines fifteen novels and one testimony written on the topic of dictatorship to illustrate how these Chilean narratives center on affect and emotions. Each chapter focuses on a different emotion: feelings of loss because of father abandonment and spatial injustice caused by the neoliberal urbanization of Santiago; despair articulated through tragic romances and affective landscapes; left-wing nostalgia and melancholia communicated through allegory; feelings of abjection caused by torture and betrayal; and the creation of affect through violent events, aggressive child play, and sexual torture. Through a close look at the work of José Donoso, Ariel Dorfman, Diamela Eltit, Carlos Franz, and Nona Fernández, among others, Weldt-Basson effectively argues that by inspiring emotion and creating empathy within readers, the authors of these books instill a drive in the readers for ongoing social-justice advocacy, thereby transforming the process of reading into a platform for future action. Weldt-Basson's landmark study will serve as a basis for the future study of Latin American literature for decades to come.

Sor Juana In S De La Cruz And The Gender Politics Of Knowledge In Colonial Mexico written by Stephanie Kirk and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-06-23 with Literary Criticism categories.

Each of the book's five chapters evokes a colonial Mexican cultural and intellectual sphere: the library, anatomy and medicine, spirituality, classical learning, and publishing and printing. Using an array of literary texts and historical documents and alongside secondary historical and critical materials, the author Stephanie Kirk demonstrates how Sor Juana used her poetry and other works to inscribe herself within the discourses associated with these cultural institutions and discursive spheres and thus challenge the male exclusivity of their precepts and precincts. Kirk illustrates how Sor Juana subverted the masculine character of erudition, writing herself into an all-male community of scholars. From there, Sor Juana clearly questions the gender politics at play in her exclusion, and undermines what seems to be the inextricable link previously forged between masculinity and institutional knowledge. Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz and the Gender Politics of Knowledge in Colonial Mexico opens up new readings of her texts through the lens of cultural and intellectual history and material culture in order to shed light on the production of knowledge in the seventeenth-century colonial Mexican society of which she was both a product and an anomaly.

Argentine Serialised Radio Drama In The Infamous Decade 1930 1943 written by Lauren Rea and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-15 with Literary Criticism categories.

In her study of key radio dramas broadcast from 1930 to 1943, Lauren Rea analyses the work of leading exponents of the genre against the wider backdrop of nation-building, intellectual movements and popular culture in Argentina. During the period that has come to be known as the infamous decade, radio serials drew on the Argentine literary canon, with writers such as Héctor Pedro Blomberg and José Andrés González Pulido contributing to the nation-building project as they reinterpreted nineteenth-century Argentina and repackaged it for a 1930s mass audience. Thus, a historical romance set in the tumultuous dictatorship of Juan Manuel de Rosas reveals the conflict between the message transmitted to a mass audience through popular radio drama and the work of historical revisionist intellectuals writing in the 1930s. Transmitted at the same time, González Pulido’s gauchesque series evokes powerful notions of Argentine national identity as it explores the relationship of the gaucho with Argentina’s immigrant population and advocates for the ideal contribution of women and the immigrant population to Argentine nationhood. Rea grounds her study in archival work undertaken at the library of Argentores in Buenos Aires, which holds the only surviving collection of scripts of radio serials from the period. Rea’s book recovers the contribution that these products of popular culture made to the nation-building project as they helped to shape and promote the understanding of Argentine history and cultural identity that is widely held today.
