The Dictionary of Louisiana French (DLF) provides the richest inventory of French vocabulary in Louisiana and reflects precisely the speech of the period from 1930 to the present. This dictionary describes the current usage of French-speaking peoples in the five broad regions of South Louisiana: the coastal marshes, the banks of the Mississippi River, the central area, the north, and the western prairie. Data were collected during interviews from at least five persons in each of twenty-four areas in these regions. In addition to the data collected from fieldwork, the dictionary contains material compiled from existing lexical inventories, from texts published after 1930, and from archival recordings. The new authoritative resource, the DLF not only contains the largest number of words and expressions but also provides the most complete information available for each entry. Entries include the word in the conventional French spelling, the pronunciation (including attested variants), the part of speech classification, the English equivalent, and the word's use in common phrases. The DLF features a wealth of illustrative examples derived from fieldwork and textual sources and identification of the parish where the entry was collected or the source from which it was compiled. An English-to-Louisiana French index enables readers to find out how particular notions would be expressed in la Louisiane.

Acerca del diccionario multilinge kreyl-espaol-ingls-francs y de su autor Bl Kontwl Kreyl: Diccionario Multilinge es uno de una serie de libros de textos en varios idiomas (kreyl, espaol, ingls y francs) cuyo propsito es facilitar el proceso de aprendizaje y la comprensin del kreyl, hacer la vida ms fcil y facilitar las futuras investigaciones. En esta serie, se puede conseguir los libros siguientes: gramtica kreyl-espaol; gramtica kreyl ingls; libro de conversacin prctica kreyl-ingls; diccionario multilinge kreyl-espaol en cuatro idiomas; y diccionario multilinge kreyl-ingls en cuatro idiomas. En este diccionario, utilizamos los trminos generales, las palabras y expresiones francesas creolizadas, palabras nativas y africanas, palabras extranjeras, palabras tecnolgicas, cientficas, neologismos as como vocabularios provenientes de materias tales como: qumica, fsica, biologa, derecho, medicina, entre otros. Todo est basado en la ortografa oficial del kreyl haitiano y adoptamos los procedimientos siguientes, varios de los cuales podran ser revisados y fijados por la Academia del kreyl haitiano: 1) Parntesis ( ) para los sinnimos. Ejemplo: Ayibobo (abobo) 2) [ ] indica que se trata de una palabra facultativa pero que puede completar el sentido de la primera palabra. Ej.: Gade ki moun ki [rive] la a. 3) Mo vilg. Quiere decir palabra vulgar 4) Zool.: zoologa 5) Anat.: anatoma 6) Culin: culinaria 7) Fig: sentido figurado 8) qqn: alguien o algo 9) kr. Fr.: palabra o expresiones afrancesadas 10) geom..: geometra 11) irr. Verb: verbos irregulares 12) w istwa mo a: vanse el sentido extendido de la palabra
