Siguiendo las línea de los trabajos que integran esta colección, el presente cuaderno pretende analizar de manera clara, sencilla y ejemplificada el comportamiento de las formas no personales del verbo, también llamadas no flexivas: infinitivo, gerundio y participio. El interés por este tema de estudio ha sido recurrente a lo largo de la historia de la gramática del español y, ciertamente, han sido muchos los lingüistas que han ofrecido sus ideas acerca del funcionamiento y características de las tres formas no personales. El presente librito recoge en parte esta tendencia, nutriéndose de las nuevas investigaciones sobre las características particulares de las formas no personales. El propósito de este cuaderno es ofrecer una visión del funcionamiento de infinitivos, gerundios y participios en español comparando su comportamiento, mostrando sus semejanzas y diferencias, y prestando especial atención a sus funciones sintácticas. Con este fin, cada uso se encuentra sobradamente justificado por la utilización de ejemplos pertinentes, organizados de manera clara y sistemática. Por todo lo dicho, este cuaderno resultará una obra de consulta para profesores y estudiantes interesados en consultar aspectos concretos de la gramática de las formas no personales y, en fin, para cualquier persona con inquietudes lingüísticas y que desee ampliar sus conocimientos.
