No Brasil, a literatura espírita kardecista teve como principal divulgador, Francisco Cândido Xavier, conhecido como Chico Xavier, médium, filantropo, tendo escrito mais de 450 obras, nascido em Pedro Leopoldo, Minas Gerais,(1.910 -2002). O autor busca em outras fontes literárias filosóficas a essência do ser espiritual, e a investigação filosófica encontrada na filosofia clássica de Sócrates, Platão e Aristóteles, na Grécia antiga, quatro séculos antes da vinda de Cristo. Na busca do Ser, da Verdade e do equilíbrio é notável a filosofia Cartesiana de René Descartes, filósofo, físico e matemático, nascido na França(1596-1650), que conseguiu mudar a concepção filosófica teocêntrica, para a visão científica antropocêntrica. A sua teoria do conhecimento, denominada de Racionalismo, defende que o conhecimento pode ser adquirido por meio da razão, através do raciocínio lógico.
