HCM [Human Capital Management] leverages your most valuable asset your people to improve business performance and grow competitive advantage. Focusing you on the issues that attract, motivate and inspire the best talent. HCM mobilizes every aspect of your operations to achieve a single goal: sustained business success . [...]

In an era that has brought new and unexpected challenges for virtually every company, one would be hard-pressed to find any responsible manager who is not thinking about what the future will bring. In the wake of these challenges, strategic planning has moved from being the reserve of large corporations to becoming an essential need for even small and medium-sized enterprises. But what good is even the most convincing strategic concept if the company’s people are unwilling or unable to put it into practice? The key is to develop people, and to develop them not only for the work of today, but also for the challenges that the future holds. Strategic HR development has become a decisive force for the success of any business. This book, edited by Matthias T. Meifert, shows us which basic considerations we need to remember and what strategic HR development means in practice. Its interesting and vivid approach takes the reader on a tour of the eight stages of HR development, introduces the critical factors, and highlights many practical recommendations for strategic HR development practice in business.

Managers Not Mbas written by Henry Mintzberg and has been published by Berrett-Koehler Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-06-02 with Business & Economics categories.

In this sweeping critique of how managers are educated and how, as a consequence, management is practiced, Henry Mintzberg offers thoughtful and controversial ideas for reforming both. “The MBA trains the wrong people in the wrong ways with the wrong consequences,” Mintzberg writes. “Using the classroom to help develop people already practicing management is a fine idea, but pretending to create managers out of people who have never managed is a sham.” Leaders cannot be created in a classroom. They arise in context. But people who already practice management can significantly improve their effectiveness given the opportunity to learn thoughtfully from their own experience. Mintzberg calls for a more engaging approach to managing and a more reflective approach to management education. He also outlines how business schools can become true schools of management.

To promote behavioural change and improve decision making, we must work with the subconscious. Inclusion Nudges target the advantages and shortcomings of our unconscious mind and decision-making processes in order to obtain the desired and needed changes. In this Guidebook, the concept and the three types of Inclusion Nudges are fully explained and illustrated with over 70 practical interventions to promote behaviour, culture, and systems change to mitigate unconscious bias and create more inclusive organisations. The Inclusion Nudges Guidebook is for those who...* Struggle with getting a change to 'stick'.* Want to improve decision making and performance.* Are challenged with translating an ideal goal into behaviors to achieve that goal.* Find it hard to understand what motivates people to make decisions.* Want to get more people engaged in their work. Everyone can learn to design Inclusion Nudges. We believe that if all internal agents of organisational change master these techniques, our actions and behaviours will better leverage the full potential of all people, thereby producing more successful organisations. For this innovative concept and work, the authors, Lisa Kepinski & Tinna C. Nielsen, have been named to The Economist's Global Diversity List as "Top 10 Diversity Consultants" in November 2015.

Water Politics And Money written by Manuel Schiffler and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-05-11 with Business & Economics categories.

This book reveals all that can potentially happen when a private company takes over a local water supply system, both the good and the bad. Backed by real life stories of water privatization in action, author Manuel Schiffler presents a nuanced picture free of spin or fear mongering. Inside, readers will find a detailed analysis of the multiple forms of water privatization, from the outright sale of companies to various forms of public-private partnerships. After covering their respective strengths and weaknesses, it then compares them to purely publicly managed water utilities. The book examines the privatization and the public management of water and sewer utilities in twelve countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Philippines, Cambodia, Egypt, Jordan, Uganda, Bolivia, Argentina and Cuba. Readers will come to understand how and why some utilities failed while others succeeded, including some that substantially increased access, became more efficient and improved service quality even in the poorest countries of the world. It is natural that a private company taking over a local water supply system causes both fear and worry for consumers. With the aid of solid empirical evidence, this book argues that who manages the system is only half the story. Rather, it is the corporate culture of the utilities and the political culture of where they operate that more often than not determines performance and how well a community is served.

The Contingency Theory Of Organizations written by Lex Donaldson and has been published by SAGE Publications this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001-02-20 with Business & Economics categories.

Written by one of the foremost scholars in the field, this volume presents a comprehensive, in-depth analysis of the theories, evidence and methodological issues of contingency theory - one of the major theoretical lenses used to view organizations. It includes both an appreciation of the coherency of contingency theory overall and a frank recognition of some of the deficiencies in contingency theory research. The coherent underlying model provides the platform from which to make good some of the deficiencies through a series of improvements in theory and method that chart the course for future research. The opening chapter presents a theoretical integration to provide the reader with an overview that makes sense of what is a large literature. It also argues that there is an underlying core paradigm that renders contingency theory coherent. The next chapters lay out the foundations of contingency theory by reviewing the pioneering contributors to theory and empirical research. This is followed by an examination of the causal models in the received bureaucracy research literature and an attempt to put them on a more truly contingency theory base. Chapters 7 and 8 examine in detail the concept of fit and its relationship with performance, including the empirical research studies. Chapter 9 presents possible new developments for contingency theory, to make it more coherent and, hopefully, valid. These new developments include the concepts of disequilibrium, quasi-fit and hetero-performance. All three are novel concepts that substantially revise and improve contingency theory. The final chapter offers suggestions on how to operationalize the ideas in this book in terms of hypotheses for future empirical research.
