For 60 years the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) has been advancing research in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This book looks into both past experiences and future perspectives using the core of IFIP's competence, its Technical Committees (TCs) and Working Groups (WGs). Soon after IFIP was founded, it established TCs and related WGs to foster the exchange and development of the scientific and technical aspects of information processing. IFIP TCs are as diverse as the different aspects of information processing, but they share the following aims: To establish and maintain liaison with national and international organizations with allied interests and to foster cooperative action, collaborative research, and information exchange. To identify subjects and priorities for research, to stimulate theoretical work on fundamental issues, and to foster fundamental research which will underpin future development. To provide a forum for professionals with a view to promoting the study, collection, exchange, and dissemination of ideas, information, and research findings and thereby to promote the state of the art. To seek and use the most effective ways of disseminating information about IFIP’s work including the organization of conferences, workshops and symposia and the timely production of relevant publications. To have special regard for the needs of developing countries and to seek practicable ways of working with them. To encourage communication and to promote interaction between users, practitioners, and researchers. To foster interdisciplinary work and – in particular – to collaborate with other Technical Committees and Working Groups. The 17 contributions in this book describe the scientific, technical, and further work in TCs and WGs and in many cases also assess the future consequences of the work’s results. These contributions explore the developments of IFIP and the ICT profession now and over the next 60 years. The contributions are arranged per TC and conclude with the chapter on the IFIP code of ethics and conduct.

Learner-Centered Instructional Design and Evaluation offers a forward-thinking, evidence-based vision of technology-enhanced higher education that taps into today’s digital access opportunities for more dynamic, agnostic, and inclusive learning experiences. The recent ubiquity of digital devices has fostered a new generation of learners who are technologically adept, engage in rapid social co-construction of knowledge, and expect increased choice and personalisation of educational content and environment. Colleges and universities, however, continue to apply their technology tools into outdated, passive pedagogies. Based on theory and empirical research, this book’s innovative framework guides scholars and practitioners toward instructional design and evaluation approaches that leverage the anytime-anywhere potential of wireless networked devices to foster flexible learning experiences and device-neutral assignments. Each chapter is rich with designs, deliveries, and evaluations of lesson plans, projects, and other real-world course works exemplifying the procedures and principles that will rejuvenate learning amid the globalisation, commodification, and massification of higher education.

This book adopts a strengths-based and inclusive approach to understand what digital empowerment means and how it can be applied in a range of community and educational settings. The ten chapters bring attention to the need for innovative approaches and educational strategies that promote digital empowerment for people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, with application to finding employment, furthering education, building community, and accessing social support services. The text also considers what is necessary for effective digital empowerment, highlighting how existing personal resources can be utilised, in conjunction with technologies, to build capacity, enhance community networks, and preserve cultural connections. By adopting a strengths-based perspective, the writers highlight how challenges can be transformed into opportunities. Through conceptual understandings, grounded examples, and case studies, each chapter offers clear and actionable takeaways for policy, practice, and research. In an age where young people seem to have a natural affinity with smartphones, computer games and social media, teachers and lecturers face a big challenge - or a golden opportunity. How can new technology promote learning, engage students and motivate them to sustain a lifelong career in learning? For educators everywhere, our challenge is to take devices that have the potential for great distraction and boldly appropriate them as tools that can inspire and engage. On the back of Steve's hugely popular blog, also named 'Learning with 'e's', he shows how the world of learning is changing, and how new technology - and you and I - can make a difference. The proliferation of digital technologies and cultures is having a profound impact on learning, prompting questions which need answers. How will technology change our conceptions of learning? How will new ways of learning impact upon our uses of technology? How will teachers and lecturers' roles change; what will they need to know; and what will we see learners doing in the future? Grounded in his research and in pedagogical theory, Steve explores the practical ways in which technology is influencing how we learn, and looks toward emerging trends to examine what the future of learning may look like. Subjects covered include: learning with technology, theories for the digital age, digital literacies, pedagogical theories and practices, new and emerging technologies, new learning architectures, changing education, global educators, a 21st century curriculum. For teachers, lecturers, learning and development professionals and anybody who wants to be inspired by the new ways learning is being revolutionised through the use of new and emerging technologies.

Revitalizing Nigerian Education In Digital Age written by Soji Oni and has been published by Trafford Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012 with Education categories.

Revitalizing Nigerian Education in Digital Age: What most of the papers in this book have in common is the concern for the revitalization of Nigerian education in the digital age through ICT and other modern methods of making education functional and effective in the new modernity. While some of the chapters deal with conceptual issues, others consider the various role of education in this digital age and how Nigeria can be relevant. Most of the chapters present well-researched, detailed, and informative papers on how to reposition Nigerian education in the digital age. Specifically, the role of education in bringing Nigeria's new world about are discussed in simple language and then taken up in different forms all through the book. Since Nigeria has to act fast and decisively to be on the same development and education wavelength as the other members of today's global family, serious actions are being suggested in this book. Revitalizing Nigerian Education in Digital Age simply means taking the above desiderata seriously. Nigeria has a daunting task here in view of the heavy education burden. This is the message that this book puts across.
