This book seeks to develop a model to train church and community leaders to become vehicles of empowerment, recovery, and restoration for victims/survivors of domestic abuse. The problem was the church's lack of care and support for women who suffer from the effects of domestic abuse. The hypothesis was when church memberships become instruments of healing, and domestic abuse survivors will be willing to seek refuge in the church. This project was tested using a mixed-method approach from observations, Bible study, a workshop, and pre- and post-test. The desired outcome is having the women leave this experience empowered with voices to address their abuses in a socio-religious context.

Bruised But Not Broken written by Parthenia Warford and has been published by Independently Published this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-08-22 with categories.

According to the "National Coalition Against Domestic Violence," almost 20 people are physically abused by an intimate partner in the U.S. every minute. Yet despite this and other staggering statistics shared in the introduction to this book, victims of abuse often feel alone and unheard, and many who have not suffered directly from its devastating effects are found to be collateral damage or secondarily impacted by the severity of the issue. Through the collection of several first-hand accounts in Bruised but Not Broken, Parthenia Warford highlights the testimonies of several domestic abuse survivors, bringing them into readers' personal space, and exposes the flaws of the judicial system failing those abused from the perspective of professional men and women forced to work within its set parameters. We can all do something toward ending this epidemic of domestic violence, but first, people have to acknowledge that the problem exists and that they can effect change . . . even if it means just listening to those with a story to tell and believing the telling of it so that the many who courageously choose not to suffer in silence will not remain unheard.

Women S Empowerment For Sustainability In Africa written by Robert Dibie and has been published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-01-17 with Social Science categories.

This book uses an open, explorative approach to deal with the different aspects of gender discrimination and gender empowerment policies, as well as their impact on economic development and capacity-building in several African countries. It uses primary and secondary data to present the argument that, without the full input of women, sustainable development will not be achieved in many African countries. This book is the first text written by knowledgeable gender issue experts that understand the culture of, and lived and conducted research in, Africa. It provides many examples of the relationships between gender and economic development around the African continent, highlighting different processes and practices. As such, the contributors here illustrate the impact of weak gender policies, and the ability to adequately develop female capacity building that could lead to wide-spread sustainable economic growth in Africa. They also explore a wide range of new dimensions and variables that are commonly ignored by other text books on gender equality. The book will help graduate, undergraduate students and other readers to understand women’s policies in the past, present, and future by analysing and illustrating cultural, political and socio-historical contexts which have shaped women’s role in the economic and sustainable development of Africa.
