Bachelor Thesis from the year 2013 in the subject Communications - Intercultural Communication, grade: Distinction, Royal Holloway, University of London, language: English, abstract: This dissertation endeavors to examine the existence of cultural imperialism in 21st century film on India. Evaluating two films, the British film "Slumdog Millionaire" and the Indian film "Swades", this study attempts to consider both perspectives of the ‘other’. A subordinate representation of Indian education, culture and women in "Slumdog Millionaire" continues the imperial attitude towards India. Although signs of a national culture are present in the film "Swades", the Indian film also contributes to the existence of cultural imperialism. This is done by sustaining the imperial attitude through representations of alienation towards the Indian identity. Scholars Edward W. Said and Gayatri Spivak help in the analyses of subordinate representation in the British film. Similarly, Ngugi Wa Thiong’o and Frantz Fanon form the basis for the analyses of alienation and national culture in the Indian film. Although varying in opinion, these authors have come together in this study to highlight the presence of cultural imperialism in contemporary films on India.

The Germans In India written by Panikos Panayi and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017 with Elite (Social sciences) categories.

Based on years of research in libraries and archives in England, Germany, India and Switzerland, this book offers a new interpretation of global migration from the early nineteenth until the early twentieth century. Rather than focusing upon the mass transatlantic migration or the movement of Britons towards British colonies, it examines the elite German migrants who progressed to India, especially missionaries, scholars and scientists, businessmen and travellers. The story told here questions, for the first time, the concept of Europeans in India. Previous scholarship has ignored any national variations in the presence of white people in India, viewing them either as part of a ruling elite or, more recently, white subalterns. The German elites undermine these conceptions. They developed into distinct groups before 1914, especially in the missionary compound, but faced marginalisation and expulsion during the First World War.

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2013 in the subject Agrarian Studies, grade: 9.80, course: Agri Business Management, language: English, comment: Note: 9.80 von 10 Grade: 9.80 out of 10, abstract: STUDY ON PRICING VARIABILITY OF TOMATO IN WESTERN TAMIL NADU India is the second largest producer of vegetables in the world, contributing 14% of the total world vegetables production. In India, tomato is the most widely grown vegetable crop with a share of 10 per cent and occupies third position. In this crop we observe more price variation due to increased supply of tomato than market demand which leads to glut in market followed by price reduction. The above price fluctuation was found to be significant which affects the economy of small and marginal farmers who are mostly involved in cultivation of tomato. For the benefit and welfare of these farmers it becomes necessary to forecast the tomato price. Based on these forecast, farmers can make cropping decision and avoid economic losses. The study conducted in western Tamil Nadu for past five month revealed that tomato price will raise in April which is forecasted through three month moving average. These are the prices of 10 kg tomato in the following markets, Kinathukadavu-Rs.73.6, Pollachi- Rs.107.9, Mettuppalayayam- Rs.47.7, Oddanchatram- Rs.55.5. Farmers are using the traditional marketing channels for marketing the tomato though there are latest developments like farmers shandy (Uzhavar chanthai). Only minimum quantities of tomato are being sold through farmers shandy and rest through commission agents. By analyzing this major share of Rs.4.5/Kg goes to middlemen's/ Commission agents.

Autonomous Driving written by Markus Maurer and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-05-21 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book takes a look at fully automated, autonomous vehicles and discusses many open questions: How can autonomous vehicles be integrated into the current transportation system with diverse users and human drivers? Where do automated vehicles fall under current legal frameworks? What risks are associated with automation and how will society respond to these risks? How will the marketplace react to automated vehicles and what changes may be necessary for companies? Experts from Germany and the United States define key societal, engineering, and mobility issues related to the automation of vehicles. They discuss the decisions programmers of automated vehicles must make to enable vehicles to perceive their environment, interact with other road users, and choose actions that may have ethical consequences. The authors further identify expectations and concerns that will form the basis for individual and societal acceptance of autonomous driving. While the safety benefits of such vehicles are tremendous, the authors demonstrate that these benefits will only be achieved if vehicles have an appropriate safety concept at the heart of their design. Realizing the potential of automated vehicles to reorganize traffic and transform mobility of people and goods requires similar care in the design of vehicles and networks. By covering all of these topics, the book aims to provide a current, comprehensive, and scientifically sound treatment of the emerging field of “autonomous driving".

Without the colonies the European history of science would have taken a very different course. Not only was the development of zoology and ethnology closely linked to colonial history, the war staged on many diseases occurring in Europe, such as cholera and malaria, could not have been fought without the insights emerging from colonial life. This book presents a wealth of individual case studies as well as a look at many documents and evidence from colonial history. It shows how knowledge moved its way to Europe and how it eventually greatly influenced the course of progress during the 19th century

The International Status Of Education About The Holocaust written by Carrier, Peter and has been published by UNESCO Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-01-14 with Education categories.

How do schools worldwide treat the Holocaust as a subject? In which countries does the Holocaust form part of classroom teaching? Are representations of the Holocaust always accurate, balanced and unprejudiced in curricula and textbooks? This study, carried out by UNESCO and the Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research, compares for the first time representations of the Holocaust in school textbooks and national curricula. Drawing on data which includes countries in which there exists no or little information about representations of the Holocaust, the study shows where the Holocaust is established in official guidelines, and contains a close textbook study, focusing on the comprehensiveness and accuracy of representations and historical narratives. The book highlights evolving practices worldwide and thus provides education stakeholders with comprehensive documentation about current trends in curricula directives and textbook representations of the Holocaust. It further formulates recommendations that will help policy-makers provide the educational means by which pupils may develop Holocaust literacy.

Philosophie Aus Interkultureller Sicht written by Notker Schneider and has been published by Rodopi this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997 with History categories.
