Reflections From The Heart is an anthology of a hundred short poems by three poets. These have all come from a crucible of lived experiences, which have left a deep impression on the poets’ minds, their hearts, and indeed, the core of their beings. They have, all three of them, finely honed sensibilities that have been tempered by all the vicissitudes that they, as individuals, have been through. And yet these speak to all, for they have a universality that makes every reader recognize the emotion that gave rise to them, and the truth that each one of them encapsulates. These poems are not, for the most part, “emotions recollected in tranquillity”. The feelings and emotions that they are imbued with remain within the skeins of the lines themselves, sometimes raw, sometimes a little distanced, but never, really, too far away from the heart. They cannot really be called “tranquil” poems, for the experiences that gave rise to them remain, and disturb even today. Bhaskar Bora’s poems have a power that comes from the circumstances that many of them were written in. A doctor with a flourishing practice, he found himself wheelchair bound after complications from a neurosurgical operation. In his despair, poetry, the writing of it, became a cathartic experience. His life story is moving, and the reader can empathise with the emotions embedded in his poems of that period. But his grit in creating a new profession for himself, that of a restaurateur, his thoughts and emotions on this journey are inspirational, especially as, through his poems we get a first-hand account of both his despair and his courage. His loss of mobility is paralleled by a soaring creativity. And yet, in some poems, there is also a beautiful sense of peace, possibly made more piquant by the prevailing circumstances of his life. This one, as he watches his daughters asleep at night: The princesses sleep in peace Faces glowing in moonlit rooms Duvets pulled, pillows spaced ... (Midnight: Bhaskar Bora) And yet, none of the three poets wallow in any kind of self-pity, nor are these an exercise in navel gazing. No, not at all. There is always, in all the poems, a sense of a wider world, in fact a greater entity, even, in some of them that raise them above the level of unremitting hopelessness to one of hope and a sense of journeying into a brighter future. I may not walk today Tomorrow I may run I may be in pain today Tomorrow is my turn (Tomorrow is my Turn: Bhaskar Bora) And of course, there is the cry of pain, moving and poignant, that pierces the reader’s mind. Pains seen, unseen, Voices heard, unheard As the silence screams Into a deafening noise Laughter, sorrow, anger, despair Melt together in the golden brew. (Dance of the Dead: Bhaskar Bora)

Life is full of tears and smiles. Our delights are shortlived whereas our tears leave a mark on our cheeks. These poems paint colourful pictures of our innermost emotions such as love and hate. Love that sparks with a smile and hate that howls into tears. Simple words have been used to paint a picture of the story behind poems where metaphors and similes play crucial roles to sharpen the image. The colours in the story are embedded in the form of conflicts and contrasts in the poems. Endings are at times sad and leave a mark on our memory whereas some poems end with the happiest colours of the emotions. In Blush of the Rainbow I present a kaleidoscopic view of life and love. Love is all we think about, all we do, and all we know. Love is much more than we can show.

Love Poems written by Pablo Neruda and has been published by New Directions Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-01-17 with Poetry categories.

Sensual, earthy love poems that formed the basis for the popular movie Il Postino, now in a beautiful gift book perfect for weddings, Valentine's Day, anniversaries, or just to say "I love you!" Charged with sensuality and passion, Pablo Neruda’s love poems caused a scandal when published anonymously in 1952. In later editions, these verses became the most celebrated of the Noble Prize winner’s oeuvre, captivating readers with earthbound images that reveal in gentle lingering lines an erotic re-imagining of the world through the prism of a lover’s body: "today our bodies became vast, they grew to the edge of the world / and rolled melting / into a single drop / of wax or meteor...." Written on the paradisal island of Capri, where Neruda "took refuge" in the arms of his lover Matilde Urrutia, Love Poems embraces the seascapes around them, saturating the images of endless shores and waves with a new, yearning eroticism. This wonderful book collects Neruda’s most passionate verses.

Walt Whitman written by Walt Whitman and has been published by St. Martin's Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-10-08 with Poetry categories.

A fully unexpurgated collection that restores the sexual vitality and subversive flair suppressed by Whitman himself in later editions of Leaves of Grass. A century after his death, Whitman is still celebrated as America's greatest poet. In this startling new edition of his work, Whitman biographer Gary Schmidgall presents over 200 poems in their original pristine form, in the chronological order in which they were written, with Whitman's original punctuation. Included in this volume are facsimiles of Whitman's original manuscripts, contemporary - and generally blistering - reviews of Whitman's poetry (not surprisingly Henry James hated it), and early pre-Leaves of Grass poems that return us to the physical Whitman, rejoicing - sometimes graphically - in homoerotic love. Unlike the many other available editions, all drawn from the final authorized or "deathbed" Leaves of Grass, this collection focuses on the exuberant poems Whitman wrote during the creative and sexual prime of his life, roughly between l853 and l860. These poems are faithfully presented as Whitman first gave them to the world - fearless, explicit and uncompromised - before he transformed himself into America's respectable, mainstream Good Gray Poet through 30 years of revision, self-censorship and suppression. Whitman admitted that his later poetry lacked the "ecstasy of statement" of his early verse. Revealing that ecstasy for the first time, this edition makes possible a major reappraisal of our nation first great poet.

What Is It Then Between Us written by Eric Murphy Selinger and has been published by Cornell University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-18 with Literary Criticism categories.

Tracing the solitude of the American self, the difference between idolatrous and companionate affection, and the dream of an "America of love," Eric Murphy Selinger shows how such concerns can shape a poet's most intimate decisions about genre and form. His lucid, elegant prose illuminates not only well-known love poets, including Emily Dickinson and William Carlos Williams, but also more unexpected figures, notably Wallace Stevens and Mina Loy. Like the poets he discusses, Selinger refuses to view love reductively. Rather, he takes the impulse to debunk love as part of his subject, whether it crops up in Puritan theology or contemporary literary theory. As he details Whitman's courtship of his readers, weighs the restorations of romance in H. D. and Ezra Pound, and demonstrates the bonds between poets as disparate as Robert Creeley and Robert Lowell, Selinger establishes love poetry as an essential American genre.
