En 1989 apareció en la editorial Okad de Rabat el libro en lengua árabe Estudios sobre la historia de al-Ándalus y sus fuentes, compuesto de diez artículos firmados por el profesor M’hammad Benaboud y aparecidos en distintas publicaciones académicas (actas de congresos científicos o revistas académicas). En su conjunto, los diez trabajos se caracterizan por una serie de rasgos: su extremo rigor científico en un terreno (la historia de al-Ándalus) que tanto en el mundo islámico como en Occidente se ha prestado con frecuencia a efusiones ideológicas de uno u otro signo; la profundidad con que se abordan aspectos de la realidad histórica entrelazándolos de un modo relativamente novedoso en las fuentes secundarias andalusíes, donde más bien se ha tendido a crear zonas específicas por especialidades; y el dominio sobresaliente de las fuentes primarias y secundarias, de una metodología ecléctica y de un insobornable espíritu crítico.
