Lalu, kita akan bertanya, Kristus seperti apakah yang dimaksudkan Yesus? Pencarian itu akan dibahas dalam buku ini. Kita akan mulai dengan menggali makna dan hakikat gelar Yesus yang satu ini, mulai dari latar belakangnya dalam pemikiran orang Israel pada Perjanjian Lama, sampai pada pewartaan dan pemakluman Yesus sendiri mengenai diri-Nya pada Perjanjian Baru. Selanjutnya kita akan melihat, bagaimana makna gelar ini dapat dihidupi oleh orang-orang Kristen yang mengakui Yesus sebagai Kristus, dalam konteks dunia kontemporer yang makin menantang iman. Akan dipaparkan bagaimana iman akan Yesus sebagai Kristus membawa suatu revolusi eksistensial yang menjadikan setiap orang Kristen sebagai “Kristus yang lain.” Mereka ini tidak hanya dapat bertahan di tengah gempuran zaman kontemporer, tetapi juga mampu bergerak menuju tujuan/asal hidup mereka, yakni kebersatuan dengan “Yesus Sang Kritus sendiri.”
