Este libro nace desde el sueño intenso de poder transmutar en palabras una serie de emociones y sensaciones que me embargan. Es un sueño, porque pensar que puede ser posible, entendible y transmisible es casi una ilusión. Pero es desde esta ilusión que me atrevo a poner por escrito el mundo que crece en mi interior, ése que tiene su ritmo y estructura propio, que no se condice con el día a día aparente, ése en el que nos levantamos cada mañana siguiendo los rituales del buen vivir, el que nos empuja al trabajo, a los deberes diarios, a la responsabilidad y el orden, a la sana convivencia, a la normalidad entre comillas. En el primer capítulo "Sueños de amor y olvido", transito por el camino lógico del amor, partiendo por sus primeras luces en la adolescencia, continuando por la expresión del amor y toda su sensualidad, hasta llegar a la pérdida y el olvido, con el dolor que ello implica. A pesar de que soy naturalmente pudorosa a la hora de compartir mis tristezas más íntimas, permití esta vez que tomaran cuerpo en las letras, porque el amor y la pérdida son sentimientos universales, que todos atravesamos en algún momento de nuestras vidas. El segundo capítulo "Sueños de vida y angustias", es un caminar por el mundo que me rodea, observándolo desde distintas perspectivas: desde lo común a lo extraño, lo justo a lo injusto, las personas que me rodean, mis afectos, y la palabra, la eternidad de la palabra que me conmueve y me incita a seguir escribiendo. El capítulo final ronda un tema que siempre ha estado presente en mi existencia: "Sueños de muerte y asombro", y que me produce más curiosidad que miedo. Toda la vida he seguido con mucho interés los rituales inherentes al abandono en este mundo y todos los sentimientos que provoca la mortalidad en el ser humano, incluyendo la construcción de religiones que tratan de suavizar, explicar, ahuyentar, sublimar y, finalmente, enseñarnos a aceptar el fin inevitable. Bienvenido todo el que desee recorrer conmigo estas impresiones y que tenga la paciencia suficiente para llegar hasta el final.

The first Nobel Prize in literature to be awarded to a Latin American writer went to the Chilean poet Gabriela Mistral. Le Guin has published five volumes of her own poetry, an English version of Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching, and a volume of mutual translation with the Argentine poet Diana Bellessi, The Twins, the Dream/Las Gemalas, El Sueño. Strongly drawn to Mistral's work as soon as she discovered it, Le Guin has been working on this translation for five years.
