The global market is the largest and most powerful socioeconomic institution on the planet, and as such it demands that those who desire to benefit from it or those who seek to regulate it realize the economic and environmental consequences of their actions. The contributors to Environmental Ethics and the Global Marketplace argue that the health of the environment is inextricably linked to the health of the economy, and economic strength depends on the preservation of environmental values. Ultimately, economic and environmental sciences must merge more completely if we are to arrive at ethically justified principles as the basis for national and international environmental policy process, enabling environmental ethics to move beyond academic venues into domestic and international decision making.

Ethical Issues in International Marketing is a valuable resource for readers’increasing need for knowledge of this important area. In recent years, ethical issues in international marketing have come to the forefront due to publicity and controversy generated from several international cases of questionable ethics. To date, little research has been conducted in the area of international marketing ethics. Delener's book comes at an important time to alert readers to the growing concern for greater ethical behavior in the international marketing arena. It provides illustrations to give readers hands-on experiences that can transfer directly into the marketing world. Delener and his contributing authors identify the unique importance of ethics and corporate social responsibility in global markets. Ethical Issues in International Marketing was conceived to allow researchers the liberty to explore the topic in the context of an environment supportive of the difficulties associated with this type of research. The contributing authors discuss these main topics: A social contract for analyzing and evaluating the activities of transnational corporations in developing countries The relationship of marketing ethics to gray markets for consumer goods How moral commitment is shaped by socialization and role of culture in Turkey The relationship between Egyptian consumers’ideology and theirperceptions of ethical behavior Readers who desire to make steps toward better global decisionmaking will find this a compelling book. The authors make readers realize that conducting business transactions efficiently and effectively in a mere technocratic sense is no longer sufficient. Ethical issues in the international marketing environment are best addressed in learning more about the differences between cultures, which this book begins to do.

It aims to discover if consumers are seeking out small, ethical, socially responsible firms to buy from rather than large corporations; if markets and organisations are supported by a new sensitivity to social responsibility and sustainability ideas; if the integration of corporate responsibility strategies and practices change how market sectors are assembled. Bringing together international case studies – including research on the Italian wine industry, German butchers, Spanish football, Polish marketing and the Portuguese financial sector – this book is valuable reading for scholars working on corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and good governance. Bioregionalism And Global Ethics written by Richard Evanoff and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-09-13 with Nature categories.

While a number of schools of environmental thought — including social ecology, ecofeminism, ecological Marxism, ecoanarchism, and bioregionalism — have attempted to link social issues to a concern for the environment, environmental ethics as an academic discipline has tended to focus more narrowly on ethics related either to changes in personal values or behavior, or to the various ways in which nature might be valued. What is lacking is a framework in which individual, social, and environmental concerns can be looked at not in isolation from each other, but rather in terms of their interrelationships. In this book, Evanoff aims to develop just such a philosophical framework — one in which ethical questions related to interactions between self, society, and nature can be discussed across disciplines and from a variety of different perspectives. The central problem his study investigates is the extent to which a dichotomized view of the relationship between nature and culture, perpetuated in ongoing debates over anthropocentric vs. ecocentric approaches to environmental ethics, might be overcome through the adoption of a transactional perspective, which offers a more dynamic and coevolutionary understanding of how humans interact with their natural environments. Unlike anthropocentric approaches to environmental ethics, which often privilege human concerns over ecological preservation, and some ecocentric approaches, which place more emphasis on preserving natural environments than on meeting human needs, a transactional approach attempts to create more symbiotic and less conflictual modes of interaction between human cultures and natural environments, which allow for the flourishing of both.

In the global financial crisis, the need to develop a new kind of economy with a closer relation between ethics and economics has become an important challenge to the international society. This book contributes to this debate by investigating different aspects of global business ethics and corporate social responsibility which are becoming more and more important in the ongoing discussions on the relation between market institutions and democratic governments. The different chapters of the book deal with fundamental philosophical issues of the ethics of the market economy, including discussions of the role of the social sciences and economics in contributing to a sustainable economics and global responsibility in the twenty-first century. In this sense, the book takes up the transnational debate on ethics and economics in order to contribute to a more balanced, fair, just and conscientious development in the world. The book starts with a European perspective on these issues, based on philosophical, sociological and economic views from Europe. These views are further developed in order to share thoughts of how to improve corporate social responsibility, welfare and justice, and the advancement of ethical principles in the international context. It is argued that in the international community, good corporate citizenship as social and environmental responsibility is realized through individual and organizational cosmopolitan responsibility for fostering the common good for humanity. The chapters of the book were originally presented at a conference in Copenhagen, organized together with the German Cultural Institute - the Goethe Institute of Copenhagen, Copenhagen Business School and Roskilde University, Denmark.
