Epidemic Of Joy written by Randal Earl Denny and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-05-01 with Religion categories.

Randal Denny began a devotional study in the Book of Acts with 'Do It Again, Lord' (Acts 1Ð4), 'Where the Action Is' (Acts 5Ð8), 'Wind in the Rigging' (Acts 9Ð12), and continued it with this volume. This book is about joy, a certain kind of joy that comes from deep down inside--the joy of the new life in Christ. E. Stanley Jones noted, ÒA strange, sober joy went across that sad and decaying world--joy that goodness was here for the asking, that moral victory was possible now, that guilt could be lifted from the stricken conscience, that inner conflict could be resolved . . . and that a fellowship of like-souled persons gave one a sense of belonging. It was Good News. And it worked! Acts 13 through 16, the scope of this study, traces the beginnings of that Òepidemic of joy, which spread so rapidly and so extensively that it has reached us today.

It took years for Jennifer Robinson's healing team to reach a diagnosis for the symptoms that had been plaguing this go-getter. While coordinating multiple special events professionally and for family, Robinson masked the symptoms of fatigue, pain, thirst, dimming vision, muscle weakness, constant headache and loss of body mass with Benadryl, M & Ms and caffeine. It took a trip to Mayo Clinic in Minnesota to uncover Jennifer's thyroid cancer, but that wasn't the whole story. The real problem started years earlier when she went on a lengthy walk for a breast cancer benefit. She did not realize she had been bitten by an infected tick. There was no bullseye rash. When doctors told Jennifer she had Chronic Lyme Disease all she could think of was that she didn't have a dog. How could she have been exposed to a tick? She quickly discovered she was in for the fight of her life with a disease that is growing in epidemic proportions. A disease that doesn't have a cure and is nearly impossible to diagnose. A disease with treatment protocols that few insurance companies will even cover. But Jennifer Robinson had #TeamJennifer, a tribe of family, friends and healers who helped her find a way through the hell of ill health and near death. In joy warrior Robinson traces the saga of her disease and her comeback, a saga made possible only when a woman who aimed for perfection and the masking of her emotional baggage became quiet enough to hear the whispers of the universe. She learned to meditate. She found the Hansa Center for Optimal Health and a number of medical professionals. She found strength from her beloved husband, family and wonderful friends. And now she has a new purpose as a para-educator who teaches mindfulness and meditation at a local middle school. This new joy warrior wants to spread the word about the need for education and advocacy on the Lyme Disease epidemic. Her first book is another step on her journey to wholeness and healing from the years she was living at only half of her potential.

The National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) is the result of many years in the planning, and it finally officially opened its doors in September 2019, just months before the entire world was tested by the COVID-19 pandemic. This book is the work of many people who represent an even larger pool of people from NCID, Singapore and the rest of the world in trying to understand and contain the SARS- CoV-2 virus. There are chapters on science, the public health response both locally and globally, as well as personal reflections from NCID and Tan Tock Seng Hospital staff and staff from other public healthcare institutions who were deployed to NCID which bring home the human impact of the pandemic. We are very grateful to all the authors for taking the time to put together their thoughtful chapters as well as the senior academics and public health leaders who have provided us with generous comments on the manuscript. We hope that the readers of the book will gain a better insight into the response to the virus from so many different perspectives. Although the pandemic has evolved far beyond the pages of this book globally, the lessons learned from the early days are still relevant. We hope that the chapters will be helpful as we review our experience of this pandemic and face the next emerging infectious disease in the years to come. This book provides a comprehensive look at many different aspects of response in Singapore to the pandemic in the crucial first several months, including clinical, laboratory, epidemiology, research, community engagement and the unprecedented challenge of outbreak involving migrant workers in dormitory settings. On a personal note, it has first-hand accounts of staff at the NCID who were at the forefront of battling COVID-19 in Singapore. It also gives a global perspective of the pandemic, together with insights into the unique Singapore experience of managing the pandemic. The Singapore response to the pandemic has been something which the global community has been very interested in and this book is the first to comprehensively describe that response from a number of different angles which will be useful to scientists, clinicians, public health professionals and policy makers.

A Deeper Well written by Marie Hall-Fray and has been published by Author House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-08-25 with Poetry categories.

A Deeper Well is the culmination of a lifetime of seeking God. The journey of a penitent heart in turmoil, spent yet contrite, determined to find the perpetual peace that one can only find through a life surrendered to the creator. After being raised in a Christian home by a mother who was an ardent follower of Christ, I was baptized at age 14 and accepted the Lord Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I soon walked away from my Christian principles, and found myself desiring the things of the world. All my disappointments hurt and anger were tossed over the wall I built around my heart. Life became tumultuous and it took me years to realize that the wonderfully made me had disappeared, giving place to someone I no longer recognized. Something was missing. In 1998 I migrated to Florida and was invited to church by my sister. I started attending services every Sunday, and became a regular tither. One night, while praying, I found myself sobbing. With a great sob and as if without my own effort, I was prostrate on the ground crying out to God. At that moment I surrendered my life to Him. The prayers and poems in A Deeper Well reflect my journey, the purging of my heart and finding my way back home to God. These poems are inspirations of situations and circumstances that I have encountered in daily life. The words are not my own, but the inspiration of the Holy Spirit who fills my thoughts and flows through my pen onto the pages. An awesome experience!

Posthuman Pathogenesis written by Başak Ağın and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-07-07 with Fiction categories.

This multi-vocal assemblage of literary and cultural responses to contagions provides insights into the companionship of posthumanities, environmental humanities, and medical humanities to shed light on how we deal with complex issues like communicable diseases in contemporary times. Examining imaginary and real contagions, ranging from Jeep and SHEVA to plague, HIV/AIDS, and COVID-19, Posthuman Pathogenesis discusses the inextricable links between nature and culture, matter and meaning-making practices, and the human and the nonhuman. Dissecting pathogenic nonhuman bodies in their interactions with their human counterparts and the environment, the authors of this volume raise their diverse voices with two primary aims: to analyse how contagions trigger a drive to survival, and chaotic, liberating, and captivating impulses, and to focus on the viral interpolations in socio-political and environmental systems as a meeting point of science, technology, and fiction, blending social reality and myth. Following the premises of the post-qualitative turn and presenting a differentiated experience of contagion, this ‘rhizomatic’ compilation thus offers a non-hierarchised array of essays, composed of a multiplicity of genders, geographies, and generations.
