Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Im Rahmen der vorliegenden Diplomarbeit wurde ein Erfassungs- und Bewertungsverfahren für Vegetationsstrukturen an Flussufern entwickelt. Dieses ist für die Anwendung bei Effizienzkontrollen renaturierter Flussabschnitte sowie beim Ufermonitoring vorgesehen. Eingangs werden die Grundlagen und Kriterien für eine Bewertung von Uferstrukturen sowie die Anforderungen, denen ein derartiges Verfahren gerecht werden muss, betrachtet. Gestützt auf eigene Geländeuntersuchungen an der Ems entstand der Entwurf für einen Erfassungsbogen mit Bewertungsschlüssel. Die Fließgewässer und Auen in NRW befinden sich nach den menschlichen Eingriffen der vergangenen Jahrzehnte nicht mehr in einem natürlichen oder naturnahen Zustand. Grund dafür sind Gewässerausbau, intensive Nutzung der Auen sowie häufige und intensive Unterhaltungsmaßnahmen an den Ufern. Das Gewässerauenprogramm NRW sieht vor, Flussauen und Gewässernetze als natürliche Lebensadern der Landschaft zu erhalten und zu renaturieren. Aktuelle Schutz- und Maßnahmekonzepte haben als Entwicklungsziel ein ausgewogenes Mosaik aus naturnahen und kulturell geprägten Anteilen der Auelandschaft, wobei die naturnahe Entwicklung Vorrang genießt. Voraussetzung für den Erhalt der typischen Biotope in der Aue sind naturnahe Strukturen an den Ufern, da diese Zeichen einer natürlichen Flussdynamik sind. Bei entsprechender Längsausdehnung bilden naturnahe Ufer zudem ein natürliches Biotopverbundsystem und gehören durch den kleinräumigen Wechsel verschiedener Strukturen zu den artenreichsten Standorten einer Auenlandschaft. Nach Renaturierungsmaßnahmen wird zur regelmäßigen Effizienzkontrolle ein Verfahren benötigt, das eine praxisgerechte einfache Erfassung und eine naturschutzfachlich aussagekräftige Bewertung ermöglicht. Gang der Untersuchung: Als Ergebnis der Diplomarbeit liegt der grundlegende Entwicklungsschritt zu einem standardisierten Verfahren vor, welches Soll-Ist-Vergleiche und Vorher-Nachher-Vergleiche zulässt. Im Unterschied zu bisher üblichen Verfahren wird der Schwerpunkt auf eine hohe Genauigkeit bezüglich der Vegetation an den Ufern gelegt. Dem Verfahren liegt ein Parametersystem zugrunde, denn Parametersysteme weisen in der ersten Entwicklungsstufe entscheidende Vorteile auf. Der entwickelte Erfassungsbogen ermöglicht es, im Gelände für jeden Indikatorparameter definierte Ufermerkmale anzusprechen. Im Bewertungsbogen ist jedem dieser Ufermerkmale ein Indexwert zugeordnet. Werra, Fulda und Oberweser – drei Mittelgebirgsflüsse, die geographisch und auentypologisch eng verbunden sind. An allen drei Flüssen wurden in den letzten 20 Jahren Revitalisierungsmaßnahmen durchgeführt. In dieser Arbeit werden ihre Auswirkungen untersucht und verglichen. Auf Basis der historischen Entwicklung und aktueller Zustandsbewertungen wird das Verhältnis der Wasserrahmenrichtlinie zur Kulturlandschaft analysiert und ein Leitbild formuliert, dass neben natürlicher Dynamik auch die Kulturlandschaft berücksichtigt. Leitarten charakterisieren mit ihren Habitat-Ansprüchen dieses Leitbild. Der überregionale Vergleich lässt grundsätzliche Probleme und Entwicklungschancen erkennbar werden. Mangelnde Geschiebedynamik und flächige Eutrophierung erweisen sich als zentrale Problemfaktoren für eine eigendynamische Entwicklung der Flussauen. Die Erfahrungen zeigen, wie trotz schwieriger Rahmenbedingungen bei kluger Planung und konsequenter Umsetzung gute Erfolge zu erzielen sind. Für die Untersuchungsgebiete an der Werra werden detaillierte Leitbildvarianten diskutiert und Entwicklungspotentiale aufgezeigt.

Nature provides us with many services seemingly for free: recharged groundwater, fertile soil and plant biomass created by photosynthesis. We human beings draw extensive benefits from these “ecosystem services,” or ES – food, water supply, recreation and protection from natural hazards.
